difference between adjectives and adverbs.

Students will write along with the Prezi

presentation, determining the difference

6. Pre-lesson assignments and/or prior knowledge: This will act as a reinforcer for adverbs
for the students. They are aware of what adverbs are, but not necessarily the difference
between adverbs and adjectives.
7. Lesson Beginning: The students will go through the directions with Ms. Nizri on the Prezi
presentation and will participate in a small game about adverbs through the use of the Prezi
presentation. The game consists of several sentences, all of which use adverbs in various ways.

The students must perform each sentence on the slides around the classroom. The action and
adverb word choices can be modified for any grade level and difficulty.
8. Instructional Plan:

Students will go through classroom rules for the adverb game.

The adverb game will begin and the students must perform actions with the use of
adverbs through a Prezi presentation.
A whole group discussion will occur about the various adverbs used in the game and how
it helped them understand what to do.
Students will complete a worksheet to follow along with the rest of the content for
adverbs on the Prezi presentation.
Working with partners, students will create sentences in the same format of the sentences
within the adverb game and then together perform such actions.
Volunteers will come to the front of the room and act out their sentences with their adverb
choices.

o Differentiation: Students will have a variety of ways to express themselves throughout

the lesson, such as the game, writing down sentences, and performing actions with their
peers. If students have difficulty writing down their sentences, they can simply explain to
their partner using adverbs what they would like them to do. Students will partake in an
open discussion as well at the end of the lesson to discuss what they have learned.
o Questions: How are adverbs different from adjectives? Do all adverbs end in ly?
o Classroom Management: The classroom rules will be reiterated throughout the lesson,
especially during the game and when the students are working with partners. The rules
are also on the students worksheet for them to constantly look back on.
o Transitions: The students will be aware of the rules throughout the game, and the game
will be done around the classroom. The last action for the game is to have the students sit
back down, and they will stay in their area of the classroom until the end of the lesson.
9. Closure: The lesson will end with a group discussion of the students sentences as well as
their take away for the lesson. Ms. Nizri will also collect their worksheets to look over the
sentences to ensure that the students understood the concept.
