MODEL 6
Dt: 21.11.2016
Aim:
To draw the given geometry in CATIA
Procedure:
1. Open the part drawing in CATIA
File ----> Mechanical Design -----> Part Drawing
2. Select XY plane
3. Select sketcher icon in sketch tool bar
4. Construct rectangle as shown in rough sketches
5. From the constraint icon give the dimensions of 56X32 as shown in figure 3
6. Exit from work bench
7. Then extrude the rectangle to a dimension of 3mm using pad icon to create a
rectangle block and and go to sketcher as shown in figure 3,4,5
8. Now select the top plane of rectangular block and go to sketcher icon
9. Construct the 2 rectangular as rough sketch fig 4
10. Again from constraints icon give the dimensions of 16X8 to both the rectangles
as shown in fig 5
17

11. Again extrude both the rectangles to a dimension of 12mm using pad icon as
shown in fig 6.
12. Now again select top plane using sketcher icon and construct a rectangle as
shown in fig 7 and give dimensions of 16X12 using constraints icons.
13. Now pocket rectangle profile at centre to a dimension of 8 mm
14. Now required geometry is created as shown in fig 9
Result:
Required geometry is created by using CATIA.

18

MODEL-7
Dt: 28.11.2016
Aim:
To draw given geometry in CATIA.
Procedure:
1. Open part drawing.
Start---> Mechanical Design---> Part Design--> New name--> Ok
2. Select YZ plane--> Go to Sketcher.
3. Create profile by using line command icon as shown in sketch 1.
4. Give the dimensions by using constraints icon as shown in sketch 2.
To create Extrude Part:
5. Pad the profile to a distance of 48 mm shown in sketch 3 by using pad icon.
To do Pocket:
6. Select the plane and go to sketcher. Create rectangle at corners of dimensions
6X10 as shown in fig 5.
7. Select pocket icon and then select two rectangles at corners.
To Create Wedge:
19

8. Create the plane parallel to YZ at a distance of 24 mm by using plane offset icon.

9. Go to sketcher.
10. Draw the line which touches the two reference line and makes an angle 450.
11. Exit from work bench.
12. Select stiffner icon and give a distance of 5 mm mirroring of wedge.
13. Create a plane which is parallel to XZ at a distance of 48 mm by using plane offset
icon.
14. Select mirror icon.
15. Then select the reference plane which is created and now select stiffner.
16. Therefore mirror image of stiffner is created.
Result:
Required geometry is created
