AIRCRAFT AERODYNAMICS

ESA 343
Student : Purawin Subramaniam
Lecturer : Dr Noorfazreena Mohammad Kamaruddin
Journal 2
The course is to an end. As always time flies before we realise it. ESA 343-Aircraft Aerodynamics is the second class
taken by Dr Noorfazreena as previously she taught ESA 244-Aerodyanamics. The first half of this course taken by Dr
Lee Chih Fang as Dr Fazreena was in maternity leave. As she is back to campus, the students including myself
believed we going to understand deeper about this course. She started with lecture 8 and of course a Matlab test.
As I know, Dr Fazreena doesnt just teach what is on the text or reference books. She often includes other moral
knowledge into our classes. For instance, she always includes inspiring quotes in her slides and explain about it
before the lecture begins. This approach is something which I dont observe from other lecturers. Well, I am not
comparing yet I have to mention this. She has been seeing us(the students) as her own children regardless of race
and religion. I would bet she has never been racist or bias to any of the students in the class. This is what I admire
from her as a person. Her knowledge is deep and she never took anything for granted. She sees things as it has to be
appreciated. One day, during her class before the presentation she bought kebab for all the students, because she
knew the students would have stayed up late to prepare the slides. I would say she respects the rights of the
students and consider the emotion of the students as well. Why so? Because she would discuss when to have the
tests and didnt simply fix a date and have the test. This is because she knew the students would have several
assignments and tests in a week and we definitely need time to prepare for the test. This gave us the room ace
better in the test and assignments. If she would fix a date she wished, I bet many students would have copied others
work, which is not a good practise. I find she is very positive. I admire people who are so positive because energy is
neither created nor generated, it can only be transformed. The positive energy is herself does not stay in herself but
it will be transferred who she meets and mingles with. I can feel the positive environment in her class so do other
students.
Peer Evaluation
I have been asked to evaluate my team members that worked together for the projects. I would evaluate them out
of 10 marks as listed below:Hafidan : 8/10
Farah Syafiqah : 10/10
Sasidaran : 8/10
I would give 10/10 for Farah Syafiqah because, she is the most hardworking girl in my group. She is smart in
programming. And we a lot about Matlab coding from her. Once, she even stayed up to 5am to solve a Matlab code
error which other members of the team including myself could not figure out.
I would say 3 boys in my team, including myself have worked together and equally for the project. But Farah
Syafiqah had put more effort than the boys.
Beyond that, I felt good working in a team with them and hope to be in the same team for different courses in the
upcoming semesters.
Dear Lecturer, you havent just taught me a subject you have opened my eyes to a whole new world.
