1-Introduction:
1.1 General
WASCO is the operating company of two concessions at north of Egypt and Nile
Delta Areas, both exploratory and development activities are carried out in the two
concessions.
EW-Plant at Damietta governorate its about 270 km far from Cairo and about
15 km from New Damietta city.
SEM-Plant at Al-Daqahliyia governorate its about 60 km far from El-Mansoura
city.
WASCO intends to revamp the control system of its central processing facilities at
EW-plant. This is mainly due to system components obsolescent in addition to other
aspects that explained in details in the following sections of this document.
1.2 General Scope of Work
The scope of work generally, includes Engineering, supply of required hardware and
software in addition to execution of all relevant works at site up to successful
commissioning of the upgraded system.
Scope details will be explained in the following sections of this document.

2- Existing System Description:

There are two compression packages (K-407 and K-408) with Waukesha engines model
L7044GSI and control panel consists of 4 main modules:
1. TTD module: solid-state fault annunciator and shutdown control system
designed to protect engines, compressors and their associated equipment.
2. TDXM module: gives you a unique configurable temperature
scanner/pyrometer with a built-in power supply.
3. EMS547 module: micro-processor based for monitoring and control of
equipment functions.
4. ESM-D display panel: To show critical parameters and alarms at ESM module.
-One of the major important module is the ESM that mounted on the engine and
connected to control panel: ESM is a total engine management system designed to
maximize uptime and optimize engine performance. The ESM integrates spark timing
control, speed governing, knock detection,
Start-stop control, diagnostic tools, fault logging, engine safeties and Air/Fuel Ratio
(AFR) control.
-The operating suction pressure range (350-700 Psi) and Discharge pressure range is
(700-1200 Psi).

3- Project Background and Objectives:

The existing control panel needs to be replaced by a new one (PLC basis) taking in your account
the following points:
1. PLC must be Allen-Bradley and preferred Control-Logix type.
2. Panel view Plus 1000 is used for control and monitoring.
3. All terminal block must contain fuses.
4. It is preferred to include the sequence at PLC and got rid of ESM.(Remember that all
devices and elements are previously connected and controlled by ESM ,will be connected
and controlled by PLC.)
5. There are five new automatic valves will be installed instead of the manual existing one,
need to be added to the sequence and controlled by PLC.
6. At starting the engine, ignition step must be before opening fuel valve step.At stopping
the engine, ignition step must be After opening fuel valve step.
Note: It is needed to perform site visit to verify any unclear point and to understand sequence
steps.
