Yamaha flutes have developed over decades of cooperation

between the world's top flutists and the Yamaha team of designers
and artisans. The musicians described to us the elusive qualities
they had always been searching for in an instrument but never had
been able to find. We set out to create those qualities. It took time,
but we succeeded in developing instruments that could please the
greatest artists. Everything we learned in perfecting those
instruments has been passed along into the design of all our flutes.
Even our standard line flute can ultimately trace its origin back to
the experiences and insights of the finest players of this century.

YAMAHA PICCOLO YPC-62

This professional model has long been a favorite of
professional musicians and can be found in many top
orchestras worldwide. Sharing many of the characteristics of
our Hand-crafted series, this piccolo features a similar design
and boasts a high degree of hand-craftsmanship for excellent

Bb CLARINETS
YAMAHA CLARINET
YCL 450

This innovative technology, which premiered with our oboes, has been brought to the clarinet after
extensive engineering specific to the instrument. The upper joint body is drilled out slightly larger
around the bore and tone-holes. Thermoplastic ABS resin is injected into the cavity, instantly
forming the inner shape of a clarinet. It is designed to preserve as much virtue of traditional
clarinets as possible, while its natural appearance is hardly distinguishable from conventional allwooden models.

New barrel design
The student model clarinet incorporates some of the distinct
qualities of Yamaha's professional and custom clarinets. One of
these features is a 65mm barrel design that produces a focused
tone and quick response. This will help new students in finding
those hard to hit first pitches while giving an edge to students
who have been playing a while longer.
New bell design
Nothing can be more frustrating to new students who are
learning notes and fingerings for the first time than a soft
sounding, out of tune instrument. A new resonance chamber in
the bell aids in projection and improves intonation in lower

The YCL-450 intermediate model clarinet incorporates some of the
distinct qualities of Yamaha's professional and custom clarinets.
One of these features is a 65mm barrel design that produces a
focused tone and quick response. Players looking to "step-up" their
performance will do just that with this instrument.
Intermediate instruments need to feel different than student model
instruments. Part of making the YCL-450 "feel" better is the upgrade
in spring material. Blue steel springs give the keys a lighter touch
and feel while producing a smooth, quick action. Additionally, the
YCL-450's silver-plated keys provide not only an enhanced
appearance, but also a wonderful feel for the players. In order to
make the keys to the appropriate strength level, a technique called
power forging is used. The result of this hi-tech process is keywork
that is exceptionally durable and contoured to the best possible
ergonomic shape.

YAMAHA BASS CLARINET YCL 221

CLARINETS

The Yamaha YCL-221 Low Eb Bass Clarinet has many of the same features as professional models,
but the ABS brushed resin body keeps this horn very affordable. Proven quality and durability keeps
Yamaha bass clarinets a top choice among band directors.
The matte finish gives the clarinet a handsome appearance, while the ABS resin body makes the clarinet
lightweight and durable. At the same time, it resonates nicely and gives it a rich, warm sound and an excellent
response. Its neck angle is now the same as the professional models, resulting in a much more comfortable
and natural playing position.
The leather pads (also used on its saxophones) are long lasting and provide a better feel than standard
clarinet pads. The YCL-221's tone holes were scientifically designed and placed for extremely accurate intonation.
The rounded key prevents key damage and eliminates the need to hold the keys when putting the instrument
together. Finally, a new joint system features rubber rings surrounding the cork that help prevent air leaks, ease assembly and
prevent keys from binding.

BULGHERONI FB-091 OBOE

The Bulgheroni FB-091 oboe is model comes out of the Bulgheroni
manufacturing facility reflects the meticulous care that is at the heart of
the company's culture. It is perfectly suitable for anyone taking a first
step into the world of music. Made with the same materials as the
professional models, it has been specially studied to produce an easy,
immediate and well-defined sound. Using a quality instrument right from
the start lends a much greater chance of success in the future.
Features of the FB-091 include a grenadilla wood body, nickel silver
keys, and thickly layered silver-plated keys. It has a semi-automatic
octave key, a double G# key, left hand F key, fork F resonance key, and

German Heckel System
The Heckel System is used on all Adler instruments and is
the most common style of bassoon system. The keys play
right down to the bottom Bb with and solid and secure
tone. As well as this, the bassoon also features five rollers
and three trill keys and all the keys have been finished

Varnished Maple Wood Body
The body of the Adler Bassoon is made
from high quality maple wood which is

With a design influenced by high-end Yamaha saxophones, the Yamaha 480

intermediate saxophones features highly accurate intonation, a warm tone and a

The separate key guards feature adjustable screw cap stoppers for professionalstyle technical adjustments, and the left-hand seesaw key has been designed to

features an improved mechanism from low B-C# ensures the consistent closing
of the low C# key and promotes a clear response from notes in the low range of

in all registers at any dynamics. The series offers two different bore sizes to meet individual playing needs: the 640 has a medium-large bore
for versatility in all musical genres and features a two-piece hand-hammered bell for a quick response. The narrow style slide and medium
weight construction provides exceptional playing flexibility.
The YSL-640 has a continuous taper bell section that improves intonation with even resistance in all registers. The chrome-plated, nickel
silver, drawn inner slide is very durable and has a quick, sensitive response. The outer slide is one piece, drawn yellow brass and maintains an

The YEP-201 is an excellent alternative for younger players, or

when budget is a strong consideration. It is lighter weight than
more advanced models making it easier to hold and play, but
still features a big full sound, and easy response.
It is characterized by a precise fit between valve casings and
pistons, which means no air leakage, and a fuller sound. Like
Yamaha's finest brass instruments, the YEP-201's perfectly
rounded tubing results in less turbulence and a smoother air
flow, thus allowing for an excellent scale and reduced
resistance. A laser-fused pluzuma welded bell's brass is fused
together for a virtually seamless bell, which allows continuous
even vibrations. The excellent intonation of the YEP-201 helps
to foster a feel for correct pitch in beginning players. That is a
distant concern for some manufacturers, but Yamaha says,
"Why wait?"
