Balloons and Static Electricity

Ans 1:
The Balloon has both positive and negative charges, so as it could be said that the Balloon is
neutral.
Ans 2:
When I rub the balloon against the sweater it (Balloon) become charged. The Balloon take all the
negative charge form the sweater.
Ans 3:
The Balloon get charged though Conduction. Before Rub it to the sweater, the balloon has
neutral charge when it rub to the sweater, balloon get all the negative charge.
Ans 4:
The charge come from the sweater as balloon rub there is a electrostatic force produced. Due to
this balloon get charged.
Ans 5:
Initially there are both positive and negative charges on the sweater when the balloon rub the
sweater all negative charges go to the balloon and on sweater just positive charges remains.
Ans 6:
When i bring the sweater in the middle of the sweater and wall and let it free, the balloon goes to
the sweater because of opposite charge attraction. The sweater has positive charges and the

balloon contains negative charges thats why balloon goes towards the sweater because of the
attraction of opposite charges.

Ans 7:
The wall contains both positive and negative charges. So it can be termed as the overall charge of
the wall is neutral.

Ans 8:
I think there will be attractive force between the positive charges of wall and the negative
charges of balloon. But at the same there might be the chances of repulsion between the
negative charges of wall and balloon.
Ans 9:
The balloon has negative charge on it when it brought near to the wall then there is a force of
repulsion between the negative charges of balloon and negative charges of wall. But there is also
the force of attraction between the positive charges of wall and the negative charge of balloon.
Ans 10:
When i let the balloon freely then it moves towards the sweater as the balloon contains the
negative charges and there are positive charges on the sweater. So there is a force of attraction
between these two objects, thats why balloon moves towards the sweater.
Ans 11:
The overall charge of all the object could be termed as Neutral.
Ans 12:
By rubbing each balloon with the wall, both balloon carry negative charges on them though
conduction.

Ans 13:
Both the balloons have negative charges and the sweater contains positive charges. As we know
there is a force of attraction between the opposite charges so according to this rule both balloons
stuck with sweater.
Ans 14:
Yes this is possible. Firstly rub both balloons with the sweater so as both contains negative
charges on them. In this way both balloons stuck with the sweater. Now place the one balloon
which have more negative charge on it, between the sweater and the other balloon. Due to same
charges on the both balloons there is a force of repulsion between two balloons. By using this
technique we can apart one balloon from the sweater .

John Travoltage
Ans 1:
When john rub his foot against the carpet so it should have negatively charged as same in
previous case when i rub balloons against sweater, the sweater becomes negatively charged.
Ans 2:
When i rub johns foot on the carpet then the negative charges transfer from carpet to the john
foot.
Ans 3:
I think all the negative charges moves towards the knob of the door as knob is made of metal and
we know electrons moves towards the metals.
Ans 4:

When i drag johns hand and touches it to the doorknob then the johns body become discharged
as all the electrons moves towards the doorknob quickly.
Ans 5:
Firstly, when johns foot rub against the carpet then its body become charged. All the electrons
enters in the johns body by conduction. These electrons spread all over the body. When johns
hand touches the doorknob then the current path completed and thats why all electrons moves
towards the doorknob. As the doorknob made of metal and such kind of grounded in the door
which is insulated. Due to this the current path completed and electrons moves towards the knob.
Ans 6:
This is different form the balloon and the sweater in such a way that there is a attraction force
between the balloon and the sweater after rubbing the balloon against sweater but in this case
there is flow of electrons from a negatively charged bod to the metal.
But this phenomenon have some also similarities to the balloon and sweater phenomenon. As in
both case by rubbing one object against other, the object get charged with electrons.
