Call for IPSF Internship with the International Federation of Pharmaceutical

Manufacturers and Associations (IFPMA)

Geneva, IFPMA has official relations with the United Nations and contributes industry
expertise to help the global health community find solutions that improve global health.

Scope of the internship
The key areas of the IFPMA internship will be:
Anti-counterfeiting: to support the portfolio manager in the development of advocacy
materials and contribute to the Fight the Fakes campaign. Regarding Fight the Fakes, the
intern will propose and develop activities, tools, and/or events fostering the campaign and
IPSFs involvement.
Various: to support other IFPMA teams in various activities including the creation of
advocacy and training materials and assistance with external relations.
These projects may include, but are not limited to, information gathering, analysis, writing,
graphic design, project management, etc. The intern will liaise with other teams throughout
IFPMA as necessary to complete various projects. At the end of the internship, the intern will

present an overview of his/her work to IFPMA staff. The timing of the internship and IFPMA
agenda will dictate in which stages of the processes the intern will participate.
Candidate Profile
The intern should have the following skills/attributes:
Excellent command of both written and spoken English. Knowledge of other languages, e.g.
French or Spanish are an asset
Good knowledge of pharmaceutical regulatory affairs and the anti-counterfeiting topics (e.g.
threats, challenges, legislation and regulation), and an understanding of international
organizations
Good communication and presentation skills
A hands-on approach and confidence to take on different projects at the same time with good
organization skills
Creativity and problem-solving skills
Expected Time Frame
Duration of internship: 6 months
Beginning of internship: February 2017
End of internship: July 2017
The intern and IFPMA will mutually agree on the exact date of beginning and ending of the
internship.

Eligibility
IFPMA may accept applicants who meet all of the following conditions as interns:
1)Swiss; or 2) EU citizen; or 3) in possession of a valid Swiss work permit
Applicants who are finishing or will finish their study (at a university or an equivalent
institution leading to a formal qualification) by the time the internship will take place
Applicants who are fluent in English
Applicants who are not related to a staff member of IFPMA
Applicants will be working full-time for IFPMA
Terms and Conditions of Internship
When accepting an internship, the intern agrees to:
Conduct themselves at all times in accordance with the standards of conduct expected of a
person working in an international environment in the context of the IFPMA
Refrain from any conduct that would adversely reflect on IPSF or IFPMA and not engage in
any activity that is incompatible with the aims and objectives of either organization
Provide the IFPMA with a copy of all materials prepared during the internship. Interns may
not disclose or make use of any unpublished or confidential information that comes to their
knowledge in the course of their internship. The provisions relating to texts prepared for
publication apply also to interns
Interns are expected to devote themselves full-time to their assignments for the period of the
internship
Interns are expected to report on their internship experience to both IPSF and IFPMA at
specified periods

When offering an internship, the IFMPA agrees to:


Review progress regularly and provide adequate feedback and coaching/mentoring during the
internship
Provide office accommodation and related support facilities to enable the intern to undertake
the assignment
Provide a financial allowance (to be determined by IFPMA)

IFPMA is based in Geneva, the public health capital of the world, where many
organizations are engaged in the critical interface between public health, development, and
innovation.
How to apply
All IPSF members are eligible to apply. IFPMA will be responsible for the final selection of
applicant(s). Successful applicant(s) undertaking an internship will not be financially
remunerated by IPSF. However, IFPMA will provide a small financial allowance (to be
determined by IFPMA) for the duration of the internship. The applicant(s) will be responsible
for their own accommodation and travel expenses.

A curriculum vitae (CV) in English
A cover letter in support of the application
An example of previous written work completed as part of your studies to demonstrate your
writing skills

will be accepted.
IPSF will complete the 1st round selection process and IFPMA will make the final selection.
The results of the internship selection will be announced to all candidates by no later than 18
