Good evening all, please find attached the modified drawing of the steel Industr

ial building.
The following is required;

We are required to partition the Fabrication and pipe workshop area into
rooms found in a typical warehouse, factory or industrial steel facility and eff
ect these changes in section B -B.

Create warehouse entrance and exit doors as much as is necessary (free f

low of movement is essential).

Provide names for the offices created on first floor plan above the rest
aurant and clinic area.

We are also required to make any changes we deem necessary to the alread
y modified drawing with plausible reasons.
NB: The Fabrication and pipe workshop may be decked or left as a floor of 8.3m h
eight.
We hope to meet on Sunday to collate the modifications listed above against subm
ission on Monday. If we can all be available at least an hour before the Sunday
class, it will help us discuss on the way forward as a group since most of us ar
e not readily available. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.
Kind regards,
Oluchi

Dear All,
Please kindly see my inputs herein.
First i will like to address some fundamental errors that needs to be corrected.
I a fabrication workshop alot of hot work activities are imminent so it will not
be wise to have the entire area above the ground floor covered..(I will be turn
ing that sequence out shortly.
Secondly, there are no such visial partitions in such area becasue alot of activ
ities are going on simultaneoudly, hense we have forr lifts moving, meetings and
tool box talks, welding, grinding, painting, etc and it cannot be like a quite
environment, but there are designated working areas which has been called out.(a
nd can be modified)
thirdly, from the grid, we are having a 6m intermediate span which is okay, but
anothr fundamental issue to tackle is that a 102m by 61m area will not go well t
o have 6m intermediate span as economical, a 7.5m span is okay, secondly interme
diate span within the working area is not advisable, and to mitigate the effect o
f roof collapes due to high deflection, a truss system is advisable for such lon
g span in order to increase the flexural rigidity and stiffness of the roof agai
nst excessive deflection, local member buckling and excess moments at the connec
ting stanchions.
To make this work, the extremities of the Piping and Fab Admin will have stanchi
ons going which will help as a form of core for the structure.
Forthly, it wont be nice to have a co joined system ,where the offices are direc
tly facing the fabrication and working ares, hence there will be need to have a
partition and the offices isolated to mitigate excessive noise coming from the w
ay of the fabrication/working area.
Fifthly, the extremity of the entire area must be cladded, to prevent dust and u
nwanted entry into the working area, as a result, the closed form structure will
be helpful against wind loading than open form.
Sixtly, there is need to provide access stairs to the upper floors withing the w
orking area (note, the entire upper floor is not supposed to be covered.
seventhly, due to the nature of the hot work going on ,there is need for proper

ventilation, hence the upper floor will serv for ventilation by having pockets o
f large windows, and also it will serve as sorce of day ligtht lighting.
Eghtly, there will be need for emergency exit and mustering point, but this will
be coming during the detailed phase, when we are about to finish the project,(l
et's have it in mind)
Ninthely, there are suppose to be A-Frames and Monorails within the working area
to aid in transfer of heavy loads beyon the capacity of Forklift, especiating a
long the piping Area, this must be stated as justification why the fab and Pipin
g area are close to the Store and why the first floor cannot be all covered beca
use the height of these frames is higher usually than the height for the floor.
