32-33 Philosophy

32-33 “Trap”
“Short Trap” Family
•32-33 is the fastest of our “FASTBALL” plays that are
designed to separate the defense and hit quickly! It
depends on TEMPO!
•The Slant Trap is good when linemen are coming upfield,
when LB are reacting laterally to our wider, “Read Tempo”
plays, and any time we can create a 5-man box through
formation!
•This play has the potential to hit big IF linemen take correct courses, get quick
movement at the point of attack, and the ball-carrier makes one cut to daylight and
runs as though shot out of a cannon!
•Against ODD defenses, we like to help our angles and attack aggressive LB by using
a ‘WRAP’ call in which the Frontside linemen PASS SET BASE and the Trapping BS
Guard ‘Wraps’ up into the hole and traps the FS LB!

KEYS to a successful play: CALLS/VARIATIONS

•Frontside linemen Rip through down men to an OVER and UP •“Wrap”
•“Fly-by”
course to LBs! We must get hats on filling/run-through LBs! •“H”, “Q”
•BSG takes a course INTO the line, arrives at P.O.A. with low pads, •“Take it”
and works his butt out of the hole by finishing with his FEET! •“Nose”
•We get movement on the Nose v. any type of Odd look
