Imp. DOC for DG, DG list & Manifest, Reefer plugging plan, Reefer spares, position of reefer with respect to IMDG,
stowage of MPs., Stack wt., Draught restriction including Dock water density, lashing plan, csm (I was trying to drag him 2
IMDG but didnt manage 2 do so)
2) He gave me 2 UN no.s and asked to use the imdg code (Vol 1 & 2, No

supplement) for segregation.

# check if subsidiary risk is there for that cargo or not.

3) At sea vessel got damaged because of bad wx what will you do incase of damage as a chief officer?
Imp.: # Carry out the damage assessment. (then he asked wat s damaged stability)

Winter precautions, inclu ballast. then asked me to make curve and explain but didnt allow me 2 complete the explanation.

Told him abt normal pilot ladder then freeboard>9mtr then combination ladder
7) How will you maintain combination ladder?

9) How will you maintain your ship either in port or in passage or at anchor?
Imp: Told him abt PMS and works to be arried out as per COSWP. Any over side work to be done only at anchor or in port
(area where no cargo operation is not going on).
10)How will you inspect your heeling tank? how frequent one should do it?
Imp: Enclosed place entry as per COSWP Ch 17. as per PMS and report to be made for every inspection and same to
berecorded.
11) How will you know if your PMS is effective? What does ISM say abt it?
Imp: # Plan must be flexible so that wx or cargo will not upset it unduly.
# Maintenance of the equip. should be as per manuf. instruction.
#Proper maintenance log to be maintained.
#It should be made so that international regs can be complied at all times also it should comply with company ISM
codes/sms.
#PMS must be ship specific & approved by class or administration.
12) What are the checks for life boat?
Imp: Tell all abt MGN 1803 & 388. Always mention compliance with COSWP.
13) How will you change ur ballast?

Imp: As per COSWP ch 21, Proof test, when to change the wire, through examination every 12 months.
17) What is a classification society and what is their duties/responsibilities?
Imp: start with ship design & all ..
18) Ship has come out of yard, how will you make her sea worthy as per documents?
19) Duties of DPA & safety officer responsibility?
20) How to keep the DOC & SMC valid?
Imp: For SMC: b/w 2nd & 3rd Anniversary by MCA surveyor ( I missed the word anniversary instead said b/w 2nd & 3rd
yr. by MCA Auitor. There he caught me, I tried to explain him abt the internal audit but all invain as he wanted to know
who & when. Then he strted to grill me all abt ISM )
21) What is masters responsibility as per ISM code?
22) Who was SSO on your last ship? What is his duties?
23) You arrived at Chennai from Southampton. What is the security level there in Chennai? what will you do?

Imp: As per Garbage Mgmnt Plan. diff dispose of garbage, any disch. at sea qty to be logged, any dish ashore rcpt to be
retained and same to be logged.
31) Why Crew agreement is made?
32) As a Master what instruction will you give to ur duty officer at night while vessel at sea?
33) As a chief officer what night order should you make for your duty officer regarding completion of cargo?
34) What is the regulation regarding carrying of Magnetic compass? How will you know if your magnetic compass is
working properly or not?
35) When will you consider to make deviation card? What are the info in deviation card?
