AN OPERATING IS A SYSTEM SOFTWARE WHICH IS LINK
BETWEEN A USER AND A COMPUTER.

MULTITASKING OPERATING SYSTEM

TIS FUNCTIONS ARE : PROGRA M EXECUTION :- The Operating System

Is responsible for executing various programs
weather user programs or system programs i.e.,
special programs required for the machine
functioning.
HANDLIMG INPUT/OUTPUT PROGRAMS :- The
Operating System is responsible handling various
types inputs and various types of outputs in the
appropriate manner.
MANIPULATION OF FILE SYSTEM :- This task
involves the making of decisions regarding the
storage of files i.e., where and how a particular
file is to be stored.
ERROR DETECTION AND HANDLING :- The
Operating System is also responsible for
detecting any type of error that occurs and then
properly handling it.
RESOURCE ALLOCATION :- This task aims at
proper use of resource available.
INFORMATION AND RESOURCE PROTECTION :The operating system is responsible for ensuring
that the information and resources available on
machine are used in the correct way. The
Operating System foils the attempts to use them
incorrectly.

 accounting :- The Operating System keeps an

account of what type of functioning is taking
place and what type os errors have occurred.

USER INTERFACE
USER INTERFACE BASICALLY REFERS TO THE
MODE OF INTERACTION BETWEEN THE USER AND

THE COMPUTER.

TYPES OF USER INTERFACE : COMMAND USER INTERFACE (CUI) :- in

earlier systems, computer use to interact with
the computer through commands, which were to
be typed through keyboard. As much of character
typing or command typing as involved in it, this
interface was known as COMMAND USER
INTERFACE.

GRAPHICAL UER INTERFACE (GUI) :- It is an

interface, which emphasizes more on graphic
entities ; which represents system resources and
actions through these graphic entities.

PAD, CALCULATOR,FILE FOLDER,etc.LYING , WHICH
ARE REQUIRED BY THE MANAGER. THE DESKTOP OF
