Art Criticism
The artist is Noah A. and the title is Agent P. The subject is Perry the Platypus. The
lines on the artwork are straight, curved, and crossed. There are circles, ovals, and rectangles on
the work, and it's lightly colored with pen and sharpie, showing value in the legs, tail, and face
areas. The texture is felt-from book pages- and seen in the legs and tail. The artist used paper,
book pages, pen, sharpie, and matte medium.
The first thing I see is the face that is unshaded and uncolored unlike the rest of the body,
so it stands out. The work is asymmetrical because both sides of the work aren't equal. The
proportions are normal. The cross hatching element is repeated on the tail to show that it has an
odd pattern. My eyes follow the pattern of the tail on the work. The main body of the animal
brings together all of the other features. The face stands out because it is large and mostly
uncolored, unlike the rest of the drawing. This work symbolizes animals and pets. The artist
wanted to show a calm and happy feeling.
The work reminds me of a character from a show. The work is portraying a character
from a TV show. The accurate portrayal of what this work is based off of makes it a success. This
work is not realistic and is more cartoonish. This work is unique but not super unique because it
is drawn from a reference, and is not a new idea. I think that the work would have been better if
it were colored, not just shaded with pens
