Highlights of WR Grid in the month of

August -2015
Power Supply Position:
(i)

Unrestricted Demand: The maximum unrestricted Demand was 43996 MW at 16:00 Hrs on 27th
Aug15 which was 3.41% more as compared to last year (42544 MW). Average peak unrestricted
demand was 37921 MW which was 8.71% more than the last year Aug14 (34844 MW).

(ii)

Peak Demand Met: The Maximum Peak Demand of 43754 MW was observed at 16:00hrs on
27.08.2015. It was 9.21 % more as compared to Aug14 (40063 MW) & 2.34% less as compared to
July15 (44803 MW at 15:00hrs on 15.07.2015). Average peak demand met (37819 MW)
increased by 9.97 % as compared to the last year Aug14 (34390 MW).

(iii)

Total Energy Consumption was 28138 MUs in the month of Aug at the average of 908 MUs/day &
Maximum was 995 MUs on 27.08.15. In the month of July, the total energy consumption was at
the average of 913 MUs/day & Maximum was 1032 MUs on 15.07.15.

(iv)

Total Energy requirement was 28213 MUs in the month at the average of 910 MUs/day &
Maximum was 997MUs on 27.08.2015. Compared to last year average energy requirement
increased by 8.71%.

Frequency Profile:

Voltage Profile: Voltage profile during the month of August was in the IEGC band at most of the

System frequency was in IEGC band (49.9 50.05 Hz) for 70.00 % of time
against 70.29 % of the time in the last month. Maximum frequency of 50.25 Hz was observed on 23rd
Aug at 17:06 hrs. Minimum frequency of 49.55 Hz was observed on 3rd Aug at 19:27 hrs due to O/D by
West Bengal, Bihar, DVC, and Gujarat. The Average frequency of the grid was 49.98 Hz in the month.
Frequency remained in 80.39 % of time (so far highest) in IEGC band on 16th Aug 2015. Frequency
Variation Index for August15 was 0.06.

400 KV and 765 KV nodes of WR. Highest voltage was observed at Dhule 440 KV on 15.08.2015. High
voltage nodes of WR were Karad, Dhule, Kolhapur, Bhadravati, Kasor, Nagda and Khandwa.

Element Addition in Aug15 into the WR Grid:

500 MW unit at VSTPS stage-V was first time synchronized on 06.08.15. Total 1400 MW
capacity synchronized from April15 to Aug15 in WR Grid.
Total 854 ckt Km added into the grid. There was total 2776 ckt Km of transmission lines added
in WR grid from April15 to Aug15.

Hydro Generation:

Wind Generation:

Total hydro generation of 1372 MUs was generated at the average of 44.25
MUs/day. Hydro generation increased by 85 % compared to last month (741.81 MUs).
Total wind generation in the month was 1596 MUs at the average of 51.48

MUs/day. Wind Generation was decreased by 37.55% compared to last month (2556 Mus). Maximum
wind generation was 4661 MW at 14:00 hrs on 5th Aug 2015.

Solar Generation:

Solar Generation of 200.55 Mus generated in the month of Aug15 at the

average of 6.46 MUs/day compared to 183 MUs in last month (average of 5.90 Mus/day). Maximum
solar generation was 1017 MW at 14:00 hrs on 31st Aug 2015.
