The four pillars of learning are fundamental principles for reshaping education:

Learning to know: to provide the cognitive tools required to better comprehend

the world and its complexities, and to provide an appropriate and adequate
foundation for future learning.
Learning to do: to provide the skills that would enable individuals to effectively
participate in the global economy and society.
Learning to be: to provide self analytical and social skills to enable individuals to
develop to their fullest potential psycho-socially, affectively as well as physically, for
a all-round complete person.
Learning to live together: to expose individuals to the values implicit within
human rights, democratic principles, intercultural understanding and respect and
peace at all levels of society and human relationships to enable individuals and
societies to live in peace and harmony.

Examples:
Last week I was able to teach integrating the four pillars of Education. The topic was
"Pagpapahalaga sa mga Biyaya na Bigay ng Diyos".
Learning to Know: We started the lesson with recalling our past lesson about praying
then I let the pupils do "Sine Mo 'to". With that activity, the pupils were able to
portray the roles of one another (the role of man as steward of God's creation- to
plants, animals and other living things, etc.).
Learning to Do: With that activity as well, the pupils did or executed what are the
things we should do as stewards, as brothers and sisters keeper and how to give
importance and how to show our respect and love to them.
Learning to Live Together: I grouped the kids into 5 and let them share with one
another what are the things that they did or is doing in helping, showing love and
respect to his or her fellow.
Learning to Be: With all the realization and application in the activities of the lesson,
the pupils were able to know, do and realize the things that they are supposed to do
and that the lessons they learned in the topic will be helpful to them as they go out
and live.

1. Learning to Know
- Review of fractions: I posted different shapes on the board. I called on pupils
to shade or show the one-half those shapes.

Discussion: From there, I told the class that aside from shapes, a set could
also be distributed to show one-half. And then, I gave examples.
2. Learning to Do
- At the end of the lesson, I gave an individual work. Pupils must be able to
apply what they have learned from the discussion.
3. Learning to Be
- I gave situational problems. they shared their ideas and opinoins and from
there, they were able to realize the value of equal sharing.
4. Learning to Live Together
- I gave a group activity. Each group were given different worksheets.
Members of each group shared what he/she have learned and help in
answering the worksheet given.
