Music Philosophy
Music is a chance for students to express themselves. Music is one of the only subjects in
school where the content, environment, and structure of the class encourage a student oriented
learning approach. The most important part of a music educators job is showing the school
supervisors, students and their parents how important music being included into the school
curriculum is, as well as how it correlates to various facets of a students life. The skills that
students observe and adapt are always utilized in other classes. Though the music class is mainly
for students to learn how to read and perform music, most music classes serve as more for
students. Music educators are not just teachers, they are also mentors, guidance counselors, and
parental figures to some students. Music classes and music educators provide a home away from
home for most students.
