SYSTEM OUTLINE

SYSTEM OUTLINE
The system uses the Wireless LAN (Local Area Network) standard (IEEE 802.11b) and the SIP protocol
to transmit and receive the signals between the WLAN terminal and the Access Point (AP) that is established on the LAN.
For the communication between WLAN terminals or the WLAN terminal and Legacy terminals/IP terminals, the VM02 card used as the SIP server is required to transmit and receive the voice data.
For WLAN terminal-to-Legacy terminal communication and WLAN terminal-to-Legacy terminal/IP terminal communication via Public Network/Tie Line Network, the IP-PAD card is also required to transmit
and receive the voice data.
The MP (virtual CSH) card controls the SIP server.

CHAPTER 1 GENERAL INFORMATION

SYSTEM CONDITIONS

SYSTEM CONDITIONS
Conditions for WLAN System
WLAN system is available for Series 3600 software or later.
Since the Virtual CSH and the Virtual CS/ZT for WLAN cannot be accommodated in the Remote
Site, this system can be established at the Main Site.
Since the SIP server (VM02) cannot be accommodated in the Remote Site, this system can be established at the Main Site.
The maximum number of voice channels for WLAN terminal is as follows.
When using Series 3600 software or Series 3700 R12.1 software:
Maximum 60 channels (3 channels per one virtual CS/ZT 20 virtual CSs/ZTs)
When using Series 3700 R12.2 software or later:
Maximum 96 channels (3 channels per one virtual CS/ZT 32 virtual CSs/ZTs)
One SIP terminal license is required per one WLAN terminal.
The Virtual CSH for WLAN uses one port of communication UDP port, therefore, the Virtual CS/
ZT use one port of communication UDP port by 16 CSs/ZTs.
The virtual CS/ZT for WLAN, Legacy CS/ZT and IP-CS can be used together in a system.
However, the Virtual CSH for WLAN cannot control IP-CS and the Virtual CSH for IP-CS cannot
control the Virtual CS/ZT for WLAN.
As the Wireless Controller controls the Access Point (AP), PBX is not concerned with the AP operation.
When you assign the Location Number (CMAD Y=29) to Virtual CS/ZT for WLAN, assign the
same Location Number for all Virtual CS/ZT for WLAN.
The following parameters can be recorded as the peg count on each virtual CS/ZT.
When you want to know the peg count of WLAN stations, read the total peg counts of all CSs/ZTs
as the total peg counts of all WLAN stations.
a. The number of WLAN station outgoing calls
b. The number of WLAN station incoming calls
c. The number of disconnections by squelch (WLAN terminal is out of cell [zone])
The following settings of location number as the Virtual CS/ZT for WLAN are invalid.
a. Type of Service (TOS) field Precedence for DtermIP/Virtual IPT/IP-PAD (CM67 Y=01)
b. Echo Canceller (CM67 Y=03)
c. Minimum value of jitter buffer (CM67 Y=04)
d. Maximum value of jitter buffer (CM67 Y=05)
e. Control packet and voice packet of Diffserv Code Point (DSCP) (CM67 Y=06)
f. Time Zone (CM67 Y=10)
g. Kind of FAX control information list (CM67 Y=20)

CHAPTER 1 GENERAL INFORMATION

SYSTEM CONDITIONS

The virtual CS/ZT for WLAN cannot be set make busy/make idle by CME5 Y=3.
We recommend ISDN line to use C.O. line in WLAN system.
Set the maximum digits to the trunks used in WLAN system.
Sufficient wireless synchronization condition is required when you install the Access Point for
WLAN system.
The radio interference may occur when the other WLAN terminals or Bluetooth product are used.
We recommend Digest Authentication for WLAN terminals.
WLAN system is available to run with Remote PIM over IP simultaneously, however WLAN stations are not available in the site because SIP server installation in the Main Site is required when
the Remote Site is in survival mode.

Conditions for WLAN Terminal

At least one IP-PAD card is required for WLAN system. If not, WLAN terminals can not be called.
The number of WLAN terminals one system accommodates is as follows.
When using Series 3600 software or Series 3700 R12.1 software: Maximum 64 terminals
When using Series 3700 R12.1 software or later: Maximum 128 terminals
When a WLAN terminal is originated and terminated a call simultaneously, the WLAN terminal
receives ROT. The WLAN terminal can not receive another call until off-hooked.
Maximum of 8 digits WLAN terminal number can be set to the WLAN terminal. The WLAN terminal number should be same as the WLAN station number assigned by CM1C.
The available WLAN terminal in this system is only MH210/MH220/MH250.
NOTE:

When using MH250, Series 3800 software or later is required.

WLAN terminal can communicate with a WLAN terminal, PS, Legacy terminal, DtermIP and Attendant Console.
The communication via the Public network/Tie line network is available between the WLAN terminals or the WLAN terminal and PS/Legacy terminal/IP terminal/Attendant Console.
However if a WLAN terminal communicates with another WLAN terminal that is accommodated
in another office via CCIS network (point-to-point connection), the domain name of the calling
side cannot be sent to the destination office.
Only the LCR outgoing call method is available for WLAN terminal.
When the registration information for WLAN terminal becomes void on the SIP server, re-turning
on the WLAN terminal is required.
If the SIP server is rebooted while the WLAN terminal is being operated, re-turning on the WLAN
terminal is required.
Handover of Access Point is available while the WLAN terminal is connecting.

CHAPTER 1 GENERAL INFORMATION

SYSTEM CONDITIONS

Conditions for SIP Server

MP built-in virtual CSH for WLAN controls the SIP server. The virtual CSH for IP-CS cannot control the SIP server, and the virtual CSH for WLAN cannot control the IP-CS.
One SIP server can be accommodated in the system. And it must be accommodated in the main
site.
127.0.0.1. is not available as the SIP server IP address.
To set DRS IP address (assigned by CM0B Y=00) as registration destination before connecting to
SIP server is required.
The maximum number of virtual CSs/ZTs for WLAN can be controlled by the SIP server is as
follows.
When using Series 3600 software or Series 3700 R12.1 software: Maximum 20 CSs/ZTs
When using Series 3700 R12.1 software or later: Maximum 32 CSs/ZTs
As one virtual CS/ZT has 3 channels, the maximum number of voice channels in the system is as
follows.
When using Series 3600 software or Series 3700 R12.1 software: Maximum 60 channels
When using Series 3700 R12.1 software or later: Maximum 96 channels
The SIP server can control WLAN stations that have maximum 64 different domain names.
If a domain name of a WLAN station cannot be registered to the SIP server, the WLAN station is
not available.
Assign the unique location number to all virtual CSs/ZTs that are registered to one SIP server.
Virtual CSH checks every minute if the communication to the SIP server is possible. When the
communication is interrupted for 1-2 minutes, the virtual CSH disconnects the SIP server. In this
case, the WLAN station that communicates with another terminal via the disconnected SIP server
will receive a busy tone. To restore the SIP server, register the SIP server again. For the way of
rebooting the SIP server, refer to Rebooting the SIP Server.
Page 38
Fault occurrence kind No. 3B is registered when SIP server registration is completed.
When the virtual CSH disconnects the SIP server, Virtual CSH and SIP server communication
fault occurrence (Fault occurrence kind No. 2B) is registered to the MP card.
However if the re-registration of SIP server is executed without the detection of SIP server disconnection caused by the momentary power supply cutting of SIP server etc., only Fault occurrence
kind No. 3B is registered (Fault occurrence kind No. 2B is not registered).
If there is any busy trunk, the call is disconnected when the SIP server is disconnected from the
network.
When the SIP server data programming is changed while the SIP server is operating, rebooting the
SIP server is required to enable the changed data. For the way of rebooting the SIP server, refer to
Rebooting the SIP Server.
