 ESE examination will be conducted in 3 stages i.e. Preliminary, Mains and
Personality Test.
 Traditional subjects like History, Geography, Life Science, Polity are eliminated and
replaced by Engineering Aptitude and engineering related subjects like engineering
Mathematics, Design principles, Quality practices in production and construction,
Energy and environment, Project Management, Networking, e-Governance, Ethics
and values in engineering profession etc.
 English is eliminated from General Studies paper.
 15% - 25% change in technical syllabus.
 Preliminary exam may be conducted in Feb and Mains exam may be conducted in
Jun/Jul.
 More weightage is given to conventional papers i.e.600 marks, in previous pattern it
was 400marks.
 Technical Objective paper will be of 300 marks, in previous pattern it was 400marks.
 Only one technical objective paper will be conducted in preliminary stage, in previous
pattern there were 2 papers (paper-1 and paper-2) in objective part
