ABOUT THE INSTITUTION

COURSE CONTENT

University College of Engineering Ramanathapuram was

started in the academic year 20082009 under the control of
Anna University, Tiruchirapalli and then handed over to
Anna University of Technology, Madurai. Now, this
campus is running as one of the constituent colleges of
Anna University, Chennai. Since its inception, the campus
has been registering steady progress and it currently offers
five undergraduate (full time) programme in major
branches of engineering. The college is actively involved in
various research projects. It is situated at Pullangudi, about
7 Km from Ramanathapuram town and about 7 Km from
Devipattinam.

The programme covers the following important aspects of

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME) was
started in the academic year 20082009. The department of
Mechanical Engineering offers UG courses in English &
Tamil Medium and planned to offer PG courses in
Mechanical Engineering. The department has a team of
highly qualified and dedicated faculty members. The
department has three doctorate and seven scholars presently
pursuing the doctoral programme. The department has been
conducting many workshops and seminars for the welfare of
the students & faculties. The alumni of our department are
spread far and wide across the globe holding eminent
positions in Industries and Academia.

COURSE CONTENTS
This programme aims to convert any physical model into
mathematical model to solve complicated problems.
To understand the different field of Structural, Thermal,
Heat Transfer, Dynamics, Mode and shape analysis by
FEA method.
To understand the mathematical results in this field and
evaluate with FEA simulation in the laboratory.
Upon completion of this FDTP, the participants can able
to understand different mathematical techniques used in
FEM analysis and use of them in Structural, Thermal,
Dynamics and Vibration problems.

Weighted residual method, Ritz method in FEM.

1D & 2 D problem in Structural, Heat transfer and
Dynamics field.
Frequencies, Mode shape problems.
Plane stress, Plane strain and Axisymmetric
problems.

RESOURCE PERSONS
Sessions will be handled by the experts in R & D from
leading Universities/Institutions and industries.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The course is open to the teaching faculties of Mechanical
Engineering and relevant branches working in Engineering
Colleges with interest in Finite Element Analysis. Selection
will be done based on the availability and as per Anna
University Norms.
REGISTRATION
Total number of participants restricted to 25.
No registration fee for the training programme.
Selection on first come first served basis.
No TA and DA will be paid to the participants.
Selected candidates will be intimated by e-mail only.
