Currently, the teaching English grammar has started from the primary school, but the
students only the general explanation of grammar. In the time the students get the
higher grade or level, they will get the grammar lesson more detail and difficult.
Learning English grammar is somehow feels frustrating for the adolescents. Even,
some of the students have difficulties in learning English grammar lesson. One of the
solutions of this problem is from the teacher. The teacher need to change or find
another way of teaching to make the teaching learning process more fun and less of
pressure. It can be started from choose the appropriate methods of teaching. This
paper is aimed to know how effective the total physical response method in teaching
learning English.The total physical response method (TPR) is a kind of language
teaching method which is built on the coordination of speech and action. It connects
teaching language with physical (motor) activities. Using TPR can make the class
more effective by involving them in class and paying more attention to what they are
learning. So they will learn more and enjoy the class learning, and the teachers will
handle the class more easily

Saat ini pengajaran tata bahasa dalam bahasa inggris telah dimulai dari sekolah
dasar, tapi siswa hanya akan mendapatkan penjelasan mengenai tata bahasa secara
umum. Seiring siswa naik ke kelas yang lebih tinggi, mereka akan mendapatkan
pelajaran tentang tata bahasa dalam bahasa inggris lebih dalam dan sulit.
Mempelajari tata bahasa dalam bahasa inggris terasa sangat membingungkan untuk
siswa remaja. Bahkan beberapa dari siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami
pelajaran tata bahasa. salah satu solusi dari masalah ini adalah dari guru. Guru
harus mengubah atau menemukan cara lain dalam proses belajar mengajar agar
lebih menyenangkan. Hal ini dapat dimulai dari memilih metode atau teknik
pengajaran yang tepat. Riset ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa efektif dari
total physical response dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran bahasa inggris. Total
physical response adalah sejenis metode pengajaran bahasa yang dibentuk dari
koordinasi kemampuan berbicara dan gerakan. Metode ini menghubungkan
pengajaran bahasa dengan aktivitas fisik. Penggunaan TPR dapat membuat kelas
lebih efektif dari keikutsertaan siswa di kelas dan perhatian yang lebih kepada apa
yang siswa pelajari. Jadi, mereka akan lebih belajar dan menikmati kelas
pembelajaran dan guru juga akan lebih mudah dalam mengatur kelas.
