Dear Dr. Bruce,

Your class has made me feel competent about my writing. By attending the lectures and doing
practices, I learned to simplify my writing effectively to deliver a purpose for intended audience
and to organize my writing in structured format. My work demonstrated that I have shown
improvement by doing peer evaluation. To show that I am a proficient writer, I have gather my
revised group charter, evaluation from my peer, and my writers notebook to fulfill the
requirement by the order of Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) guideline.
I have demonstrated the rhetorical focus of the charter in the Mission section by stating the
purpose of creating a technical guideline for ASUS laptop for laypersons. Because the charter
was a formal consent form, I used my language concisely to introduce the teams roles for our
intended audience (you) to acknowledge our duties were handled effectively to create detailed
guideline during in-class and out-of-class meetings (SLO 1). I also added my writers notebook
to show informality by expressing my thoughts. My expertise of ethical citation can be found
under section Resolving Conflict, where I cited two credible sources in text and in the works
cited page, one from our textbook Practical Strategies for Technical Communication and
another from an online article Conflict Resolution Skills to establish conflict management (SLO
2). I have mastered persuasion in this cover letter by listing all of the SLOs with evidences,
showing that I have followed the requirement for the class (SLO 3). My understanding for
organization constructs each section apart leaving spaces in between to let the audience
identify the sections objective without clustering too many words. I added bullets in specific
sections to apprise important justification and numbers to list the consequential initiatives (SLO
4). The group charter shows evidence that I have excelled language and design, conveying that
the language is informative due to the charter being sent to an authorization (you) without
showing gender and cultural prejudice. For design, I bolded the headings and increased the font
size to capture the audience attention so they can identify each section (SLO 5). The charter
satisfies collaboration because the team and I cooperated on writing each section to reach
completion with our busy schedules. During revision, I acknowledged my peers work and
recognized to simplify their sentences like we learned in class. Looking at my peers evaluation
and mistakes I examined in their work, I enhanced my work and use explicit verbs for exact
meanings (SLO 6).

These evidences show that I have accomplished all SLOs for the class. This course has
become beneficial for me to pursue my communication degree. I have valued learning about
writing techniques and evaluating my work as well as others. I hope this letter convinces you
that I have mastered the SLOs.
Sincerely,
Annie Lam
