METHODOLOGY

DATA COLLECTION
The research methodology includes literature review, focus group interview and
survey through structured questionnaire. The literature review will explore the
significance and influence of high number of students on the teaching learning
process with a particular emphasis on coming up with different techniques to
handle the situation. The research would work from more general views of the
influence of the number of students on the teaching learning process in a global
perspective to a more specific of adopting techniques to handle large numbers
in the Ethiopian higher learning institutes.
Focus group interview
The focus group interview would generate an input for the research from group
dynamics and interaction in the communication between research participants
(Kitzinger & Barbour, 1999). Size of the group needs to be large enough to
generate diver viewpoints for generation of in-depth input but not too large for
adequate participation by each group member (Zikmund, et al., 2010). To this
effect 15 participants will be expected to take part in the research.
Structured questionnaire
The following stage of data collection involves, a structured questionnaire to
ensure "compatibility of the data, increase speed and accuracy of recording and
facilitate data processing. A sample size of 50 is determined and the
questionnaires will be sent out to lectures and professors working in
governmental and non-governmental institutes of higher learning. A pilot survey
will be conducted before administering the structured questionnaire.
4.2 DATA ANALYSIS
The data collected through the structured questionnaire will be analyzed using
statistical software named IBM SPSS Statistics 21.
