Same-Sex Marriage
Is same sex marriage really such a bad thing? What harm does it really do? Same sex
marriage should be embraced by all states. Marriage is a human right to all citizens, this being
said same sex couples should not be denied the right to marry, all states should actually allow it
because it benefits society in many ways.
First of all, Government denying the right of same sex marriage is denying civil rights
given to every citizen of the united states. Discoll states, To deny homosexulas the right to marry
is denying to individuals their right to love one another in an everlasting bond (2). Marriage does
not specifically have to be between a man and a woman, if so it would say that in the documents
that we live by today. In the article Discroll claims, Marriage is a right protected by the 14th
Amendment, which includes, no state shall deprive any person of life, liberty, and property (2).
Marriage is a form of life and liberty, and to deny citizens the right to marry whom they please is
injustice. More than 25 states have passed legislation that bans same-sex marriage, Driscroll
debates(2). 25 states technically are breaking the law, when all facts are looked upon same sex
couples are not being treated fairly.
Secondly, gay marriage can bring help to workplaces and open up the business industry.
Lipp claims, the legalization of same sex marriage has consistently been shown to provide an

economic boost to the states that have embraced marriage equality(2). Just the marriage industry
alone can boost economically with same-sex couples wanting a marriage ceremony that every
other couple gets when deciding to marry. Nearly 260 million was injected into the New York
city economy in the year following the legalization of same sex marriage, states Lipp (2). Same
sex couples that live in states that do not allow homosexula marriage can just move to states that
do which boost that states economy. Lipp implies, Regions that have allowed same-sex marriage
to occur, have seen an increase in tourism(2). Millions of gay couples live in the United states
today, many of them who are in serious relationships, have to move somewhere where gay
marriage is legal.
Lastly, allowing same sex marriage strengthens national & international reputation. In the
article Lipp claims, Fifteen countries have moved ahead of the U.S. in providing federal
marriage equality. These countries do not have to deal wit the protest and complaint the the U.S.
has to deal with because, equality has already found its way to these places. According to Lipp,
all state and national laws that contain anti-gay discrimination must be removed to restore our
integrity as a global leader. The United States is supposed land of the free home of the brave but
without equality to all people were just home of the brave. Lipp suggest that, the tage liberty
and justice for all will become more believable when same sex couples are granted equality(3).
Marriage laws across the country need to be restated to where every citizen of the united states
are treated fairly.
Marriage is a human right to all citizens, this being said same sex couples should not be
denied the right to marry, all states should actually allow it because it benefits society in many
ways. Economy in states that struggle can boost with just an act of equality, couples want to live

where they can be free and treated the same. Our nation as a whole can look so much better if the
judgement of same sex marriage is changed, other countries have already sailed ship, what is the
U.S. waiting for.
