In the following pages you will find the instructions for use, which you are advised
to read through carefully. The instructions
also contain the procedure for controlling
the CD Changer (where provided) through
the sound system. For the instructions for
use of the CD Changer refer to the specific
manual.
Road safety
WARNING
Too high a volume when driving can put the drivers life at
risk and that of other people. Therefore the volume should always be adjusted in such a way that it is always
possible to hear the noises of the surrounding environment (e.g.: horns, ambulance, police sirens, etc.).

Carefully clean all Compact Discs of fingerprints and dust using a soft cloth. Support Compact Discs from the outer circumference and clean from the centre
outwards;
Never use chemical products for cleaning (e.g.: spray cans, antistatic or thinners) as they might damage the surface
of Compact Discs;
After use, put Compact Discs back in
their container, to avoid marks or
scratches that may cause skipping when
playing;
Do not expose Compact Discs to direct
sunlight, high temperatures or damp for
prolonged lengths of time to prevent
them from bending;
Do not stick labels or write on the
recorded surface of Compact Discs.
To remove a Compact Disc from its container, press the centre and raise the disc
carefully, holding it by the outer circumference.
Always hold Compact Discs by the outer
circumference. Never touch the surface.
To remove fingerprints and dust, use a
soft cloth starting from the centre of the
Compact Disc outwards.
Do not use highly scratched, cracked, or
distorted discs, etc. The use of these discs
will involve malfunctioning or damage to
the player.
For best playing use only original CDs.
Proper operation is not guaranteed when
using R/RW CDs not properly mastered
and/or with max. capacity exceeding 650
MB.
IMPORTANT Do not use the protective
sheets for CD in commerce or discs with
stabilisers, etc. as they might get stuck in
the internal mechanism and damage the
disc.

On multimedia CDs in addition to sound tracks also data tracks are recorded. Playing one of these CDs may
cause rustling and such a volume as to
compromise road safety, as well as
causing damage to the final stages and
speakers.

After changing sound source, the display
will show the current function selected:
TUNER (Radio), CD (Compact Disc),
CDC (CD Changer).
Functions not available (e.g. CD if a
Compact Disc is not inserted) are disabled
automatically.
If while listening to the radio another function is selected, when the Radio mode is
resumed, it is tuned to the last station selected.
VOLUME ADJUSTMENT
Adjust volume through button/knob
ON/OFF.
Turn the knob clockwise to increase volume, turn the knob counter-clockwise to
lower the volume.
The display will show: VOLUME 00
VOLUME 12
When the Mute function is on, all the other functions can be used. If a traffic announcement arrives with the TA function
on, the traffic message will ignore the
Mute function.
Proceed as follows:

turn the knob ON/OFF clockwise to increase bass or treble tones or turn it
counter-clockwise to decrease.
The display will show for a few seconds

The display will show for a few seconds
the balance levels, from +10 to +10
( = right, = left). A few seconds after the last setting the display will resume

next station that it is possible to receive

chosen band. To turn this function on use

SCAN FUNCTION
(station scanning)
Press button SCAN to start scanning the
stations in the frequency band selected
(FM, AM, MW, LW). Each station found
will be heard for a few seconds and the
relevant frequency is shown on the display.
During scanning, the display will show the
message TUNER SCAN, with the word
SCAN flashing.

AF FUNCTION
(alternative frequency search)
To turn the AF function on/off, press
briefly button AF PTY. RDS name (if available) will stay on the display and if the
function is on the wording is shown.
AF SWITCHING: ON = alternative
frequency search on
AF SWITCHING: OFF = alternative
frequency search off.
TA FUNCTION
(traffic information)
Certain stations in the FM band (in storage blocks FM1, FM2, FM3 and FMAST)
are enabled to also broadcast information
about traffic conditions. During a traffic
bulletin, the message TRAFFIC INFO
will be displayed alternate with the current one (e.g.: station name).
To turn the TA function on/off, press
briefly button TA. When the TA function
is on the display will show the message
TA-ON.
When the TA function is on, an incoming
traffic bulletin will stop temporarily the
current broadcasted programme or the
CD being played. Switching from the selected station to the station broadcasting
traffic announcements is only possible if
connection for EON function is enabled.

PTY setting
Press button AF PTY for over 2 seconds to
display the PTY code of the current station. Select the required code by turning
the button/knob ON/OFF and then press
button or to start automatic seeking of stations with the PTY code selected. Automatic seek will stop automatically to the next station broadcasting the PTY
programme selected. The type of programme will be displayed (e.g. POP) with
the word PTY flashing.
IMPORTANT If no station is broadcasting
the selected PTY, the last station will be
tuned and the PTY function is aborted.
PTY function deactivation
After entering the PTY mode, if no operation is performed within 10 seconds, the
radio returns to the mode active before
pressing the AF PTY button and it will store
the last PTY code selected.

To activate the Menu, press briefly the
button MENU RDS.
In this way you open the first level Menu.
To open the second level menu keep the
MENU RDS button pressed for over 2 seconds.
To scroll the Menu options press repeatedly the MENU RDS button.

The SVC function makes it possible to automatically adapt the volume level to the
speed of the car, increasing it as the speed
increases to maintain the ratio with the
noise level inside the passenger compartment.
This function enables to change the reception sensitivity of radio stations broadcasting traffic announcements.

INTRODUCTION
This function can be used to set the maximum volume (from 10 to 33) that can be
set using the control.
With this function it is possible to set radio turning on/off depending on car ignition/switching off or independent.
With this function on (radio is set to
switch off when the car is switched off),
it is however possible to switch on the radio.
With this function off, when switching off
the car the radio stays on.

To turn on the Compact Disc player integral with the sound system, when a CD
is already inserted, turn on the sound system by pressing the button/knob ON/OFF

With this function it is possible to listen to
all the tracks contained in the CD selected.
Keep button SCAN pressed to play the
first 10 seconds of each track contained in
the CD. While playing the track, the display will alternately show the CD Changer function selected (CD Changer name,
track playing time and number of the track
being played) and the word SCAN (e.g.:
CDC3 SCAN TK12 0.04)
If the Scan function is on, Repeat and Mix
functions are turned off.
Press briefly the preset button 5 RPT to listen repeatedly to the last track played: the
display will show CDC REPEAT
TRACK.
Press the preset button 5 RPT again to turn
off the repeat function: the display will
show CD REPEAT OFF.
Changing the sound source, the function
is turned off.
IMPORTANT When the repeat function
is on, the SCAN and MIX functions are
turned off.

SECRET CODING
ENTERING THE SECRET CODE
OF THE RADIO
Entry of the secret code is required to allow the sound system to work after the
first connection to the car electric system
different from the original one.
Connecting the radio to the car power
supply, the display shows RADIO M CODE ----.
The secret code comprises four figures,
each corresponding to one of the dashes.
To enter the first digit of the code, press
the corresponding button of the preset
stations (from 1 to 4). Press repeatedly the
preset buttons 1-4 to enter the secret
code digits (from 0 to 9).
To confirm the required digit press 5 RPT.
WAITING TIMES
In order to make code deactivation and
operation impossible, if a wrong code is
entered the next attempts to enter the
code are spaced by preset waiting times.
During these intervals the sound system
can be connected or disconnected but not
switched on.
During the waiting time the sound system
shall not be connected.
It shall however be connected with +12V
permanent voltage. The waiting time is over
when the display shows the figure and the
dashes of the next attempt (e.g. 2 - - -).
The following table shows the times between one attempt and the other.
Waiting time passes keeping the radio
on. When turning the radio on/off,
counting restarts from the start of the
current attempt.
The waiting time is over when the display
shows the figure and the dashes of the
next attempt (e.g. 2 - - - ).
