Project Part 5 Confidence Intervals

1: a confidence interval is an interval based on a point estimate that gives a range of likely values for an
unknown parameter and its purpose is to give us a variety of values for our estimated population
parameter
2:Population proportion: An approximately normal sampling distribution of p: np (1-p)>10 and
independent trials: n<0.05 N ( sample is smaller than 5% of the population)
Population mean: Sample date come from a simple random sample or randomized experiment
Sample size is small relative to the population sixe n<0.05
The date come from a population that is normally distributed or the sample size is large (n>30 so that
the sampling distribution of the mean is approximately normal

X: 726
n:3551
C-level: .99
(.18702, .22188)
4: with 99% confidence the proportion that are yellow of all candies is between .18702 and .22188
5: no because 8/58= .13793 is not between .18702 and .22188
6: Stat-Tests-1-PropZint
Stat-Tests-Tinterval
X: 59.183
Sx: 3.11
n:60
C-level: .95
= (58.379, 59.987)
7: with 95% confidence the mean number of the population of candies per bag is between 58.379,
59.987.
8: No because 58 is not between 58.379 and 59.987
