What to Include in Your Travel Blog

Your goal: to design a travel blog on www.blogger.com showcasing your experiences on your chosen hike.
You will research your hike as well as ethically sourced images of your hike (using creative commons
pictures only), and create a minimum of 5 blog posts displaying your adventures.
1st Post:
Name (Only your first name please)
Date (Are you travelling during the summer or winter? Dry or wet season?)
Length of hike (the actual hike length and how long you are going for?)
Where you are going
Why you are going
Who are you going with (Or are you going alone? Will you be meeting somewhere there?)
Packing list
How you feel (Are you scared, excited, concerned, etc.)
Every Other Post:

Date of each entry

Location of each entry (Ex: 3 kms into the hike, or About a day away from Machu
Picchu).
How you feel (physically and emotionally) (Do your feet hurt? Have you had any accidents? Have you
or a friend gotten sick? Have you had to take a rest day? Have you had to stop the hike all together and
go home? Does something happen that gives you strength and pushes you forward?)
Who you are travelling with (Or are you alone? Do you make friends along the way?)
What have you accomplished today? (A steep climb, snow, water, hot temperatures, heavy backpack, etc.)

Something significant that you have learned about yourself or about the world around you.
A picture! (Either one that you take (you may stage it in class and take the pictures with the Ipads) or
from the Internet). NOTE: Any picture that is not your property (i.e. from the Internet) MUST be cited
(provide the URL under the picture).
Hyperlink the words in your blog that have been researched.

Between Heaven and Earth: Travel Scenarios

The Scenario
Its a rainy day and all I have the energy to do is look out your window and wish you were somewhere
else- anywhere else. Suddenly, I hear footsteps approaching my front door and a shudder runs down my
spine. A manila envelope comes dropping down from the mail slot in the door. I run to the window to see who it
was- just the mailman, typical. It looks like nothing exciting is ever going to happen. Its probably just junk mail,
I think to yourself. Curiosity, however, gets the better of me, and I flip the envelope over in your hands. No
return address. Weird. But there are about a million Canada Post stamps on the top right corner. Weirder. I
tear open the envelope and find a(n)_________. Whats this for? I question aloud. I search deeper in the
envelope and discover a note. It reads:
_____________________________________________________________________.
Is it crazy that I want to go?! Is it crazy that Im scared and excited all at once?! Something changes within me,
and I realize that there is only thing to do; pack my bags and leave for ____________.
