Part II: Reflection

CANDIDATE REFLECTIONS:
(Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question)

1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology facilitation and
leadership from completing this field experience?
I began this coaching somewhat apprehensive because the teacher I was coaching has been teaching kindergarten
longer than I have and is a wonderful, innovative teacher. From our initial discussions, I found her to be very open to
learning a new way to introduce technology to her children. This helped greatly in easing my worries as she was very
professional towards me. Our sessions together went smoothly and as her students already knew me, the lessons were
easy to conduct. I think that really benefited me during our coaching.

2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you
be able to do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs, enthusiasm) required of a technology
facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected in Part I. Use the
language of the PSC standards in your answer and reflect on all 3knowledge, skills, and
dispositions.)
Knowledge Learning to coach even a collogue is necessary knowledge that we must learn to do. Learning to listen
to their needs and wants and how to help them achieve their goals was something else I learned.
Skills I learned that you should be very familiar with the technology you are coaching with. you need to know all its
features and dhow to use it correctly so that if you need to troubleshoot, you can do it.
Dispositions the technology facilitator needs to have a positive attitude along with the belief that what the teacher is
implementing will help their class. If they do not have these, I believe the teacher will feel this and not want to follow
through.

3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or
student learning at your school. How can the impact be assessed?
This experience helped improve faculty development and student learning within the school. Mrs. Gerdts is not
experienced at using the QR reading and her students are professionals at using the Doodlebuddy app on the iPad.
Since learning how to use this technology, she has go on to show several other teachers how to implement it within
her classroom. her students are very engaged and have become experienced at creating pictures of the stories they had
read to them from the QR reader.
