INSTRUCTIONS FOR CANDIDATES SEEKING ADMISSION: SESSION 2017-18
Admission in Class VI
1.

Only those candidates who have completed 10 years and below 11 years of age as on 01 Jul 2017 are eligible. The candidate

should have been born between 02 Jul 2006 and 01 Jul 2007. The admission will be made on the basis of an All India Sainik Schools
Entrance Examination. The Examination for the forthcoming academic session will be held on 15 Jan 2017 (Sunday). The last date for
receipt of duly filled in applications in the School is 30 Nov 2016. Only prescribed proforma as given at Appendix 'A' is to be filled in all
respects as per the instructions as well as guidelines given in the School Prospectus (can be downloaded from School website:
www.sainikschoolnalanda.bih.nic.in).

(a)

Similar copies of recent passport size photographs (colour or black & white) taken on or after 17 Oct 2016 are to be affixed

one each on Application Form and Admit Cards (Duplicate).


(b)

The photographs affixed on the Application Form and Admit Cards must be attested by the Head of the Institution (Principal/

Headmaster of the School) in which the boy is studying. In case of Private Study (applicable only for class VI), the same must be
attested by a Gazetted Officer.
(c)

Properly filled in Admit Cards (Appendix 'B') with details. The candidates should append his signature at designated place.

(d)

Attach a Certificate of Proof of Date of Birth obtained from a recognised School in which studying. In case of Private Study

(applicable only for class VI), attach a photocopy of Birth Certificate obtained from the Registrar of Births & Deaths, Municipal
Corporation / Nagar Panchayat duly attested by a Gazetted Officer.
(e)

In case of Ex-service personnel, photocopy of Discharge Certificate containing Family Details and Date of Birth of Candidate

is to be attached. Serving Defence Personnel are required to submit a Service Certificate from their Commanding Officer and Date
of Birth Proof (DO Part II Order Extract) in respect of their child from Service Records.

Only those boys who are within the age limits are eligible to apply. There is no relaxation of age limits to any category.

10.

Candidates who have appeared earlier in the Entrance Examination to Class VI and IX are not eligible to appear again for

the Entrance Examination for the same class.


11.

Efforts will be made to allot the Examination Centres as per the choice of the candidates. However, the Principal, Sainik

School Nalanda reserves the right to allot Exam Centre other than preferred, depending on availability of candidates. Request
for change of centre of examination will not be entertained.
12.

Full postal address to which Admit Card and other communications are to be sent must be furnished in the Application Form and

on the enclosed Address Sheets.


13.

The School is not responsible for non-receipt/late receipt of communication due to postal faults/delays.

14.

Parents/guardians are requested not to contact any members of staff of this School personally/directly or indirectly for favour of

admission. If the Principal is approached through any Staff Member or any person for favour of admission, the candidature of such
candidates will be disqualified.
15.

The School does not patronize any coaching centre/institute. The admissions will be made strictly in accordance with the merit and

medical fitness of candidates in the Entrance Examination.


16.

Guidelines for Medical Examination of Boys seeking admission into Sainik School Nalanda will be same as required for entry into

National Defence Academy (NDA).


17.

Kindly note that though the model/old question papers are being supplied (subject to availability @ Rs 25/- for class VI & class IX),

it cannot be ruled out modifications in the form and contents of the question papers supplied so.
18.

No candidate will be admitted to the written examination unless he produces the Admit Card bearing his photograph and signature.

19.

The envelope containing the application form should be super scribed in bold letters as APPLICATION FOR ALL INDIA SAINIK

SCHOOLS ENTRANCE EXAMINATION 2017-18.


20.

Marks Statement will be supplied on request only to the father/mother or legal guardian of the candidate on payment of Rs 100/-

(Rupees one hundred only) by Demand Draft separately after declaration of final results, ie 13 Mar 2017.
21.

There is no provision for re-evaluation of answer scripts.

22.

Overaged candidates are advised not to apply for admission/appear in the Entrance Examination as such candidates will be

subjected to age verification tests and upon ascertaining being overaged, their candidature will be summarily rejected.

Fee
1.
'School Fee' as fixed by the Sainik Schools Society, Ministry of Defence is to be paid in advance and is charged for an
academic year ie from 01 Apr to 31 Mar. The students are also required to pay clothing money, pocket money, incidental
charges and miscellaneous expenses along with the fee. The School fee and dues are to be paid in a lump sum at the time of
admission/in the beginning of the School term.
2.
Fee and other charges are liable for an upward revision, approximately 10% per annum, as per the directions of the
Board of Governors, Sainik Schools Society.

294200). Payments of school fee / dues are only to be made in the School Accounts Section. Payment of dues to any other
School employees other than those employed in Accounts Section will be entirely at the risk and responsibility of the person
making the payment.
Scholarships

The Govt of Bihar grants income based scholarships for Bihar domiciled students every year on the basis of income
of parents/guardian.

Govt of Bihar shall grant Rs 12,685/- as dietary supplement every year to Bihar domiciled boys, in addition to the
above scholarships.
Defence Scholarship
8.
Ministry of Defence (MoD) awards scholarship to the children of Service Personnel including Ex-servicemen
studying in Sainik Schools. The amount of Scholarship would be determined on the basis of rank of the personnel. The

The eligibility for continuation/retention of Defence/State Government Scholarship to cadets from classes VI to VIII is
as follows:(a)
He obtains a minimum of 33 grade points in total.
(b)
He is not reported upon adversely regarding discipline.
(c)
He is otherwise eligible for the continuance of scholarship on the basis of rank or income of his parent, as the
case may be.
(d)
SC/ST cadets securing 30 grade points in aggregate would be eligible for retention of scholarship.
10.
The eligibility for continuation/retention of Defence/State Government Scholarship to cadets for classes IX and X is as
follows:(a)
He obtains a minimum of 28 grade points in total.
(b)
He is not reported upon adversely regarding discipline.
(c)
He is otherwise eligible for the continuance of scholarship on the basis of rank or income of his parent, as the
case may be.
(d)
SC/ST cadets securing 25 grade points in aggregate would be eligible for retention of scholarship.
11.
The eligibility for continuation/retention of Defence/State Government Scholarship to cadets for classes XI is as
follows:(a)
He obtains a minimum of 55% in aggregate in the annual examination with not less than 45% in each subject.
(b)
He is not reported upon adversely regarding discipline.
(c)
He is otherwise eligible for the continuance of scholarship on the basis of rank or income of his parent, as the
case may be.
(d)
SC/ST cadets securing 50% in aggregate and not less than 40% in each subject.

In addition to the above Scholarships, Ministry of Defence, Govt of India has also introduced a monetary grant to
share the financial burden of the parents/guardians and granting an approx amount of Rs15,000/- (variable) per annum to all
the students of Sainik Schools irrespective of parents/guardians income and domicile.
13.
An income certificate attested by District Magistrate/appropriate authority has to be submitted to the school
at the beginning of the new academic session and before 15 May, every year for the award/renewal of State Govt
Scholarship. Defence personnel (Serving/Ex-servicemen) should submit Service Certificate, Pay slip, Ex-servicemen Certificate and Pension Certificate, as applicable for renewal of Scholarship, every year.
