METHOD STATEMENT

INTRODUCTION
The following scope of works is method of statement for supply of
power oil Filter machine with operator.

START OF WORK
1. Operators must report to client/site office on arrival at site.
2. Operators must attend site induction if instructed to do so.
3. Operators must wear the correct PPE required for the job and/or as

instructed by client/customer site.


4. Operators must create an exclusion zone using hazard tape and cones

prior to works starting.


5. Operators are to use only correct equipment for all access as dictated by

the job and/or instructed by client/customer.


6. Operators are to inspect and assess the requirements of task.

INSTALLATION AND PREPARATION OF FILTER MACHINES


A. FOWLERWRESTUP:

1. Install the machine horizontal to ground level using screw jacks.


2. All valves in oil and vacuum lines are closed. All aeration valves and drain
valves are closed.
3. All switches are in off position.
4. Connection to power supply:
Connect the power supply cable ensuring
Supply voltage

415 volts, 3 phase 50 hz Ac

Cable size

3 core x 70 sq.mm aluminium cable 1. 1kV grade.


Or
4 core x 35 sq.mm copper cable 1.1kV grade.

Earth

connect earth to the machine earth terminal.

Check all the electrical connections in control panel and on motors


physically, if found loose tighten them.
5. Oil heaters
Set the temperature indicating controller at 50, 55 & 60 deg . C
respectively. safety thermostat is factory preset at 110deg. C
6. Filter
Ensure the filter cartridges are fixed properly and check the cartridges when
choked.
7. Oil hose connection
Connect process hoses to the proper connections on the tank. The inlet
connection to the plant must be connected to the bottom of the tank. The outlet
connection from the plant must be connected placed away from the inlet connection
to ensure all the oil in the tank is processed.

B. FILTERVAC
1. Install the machine horizontal to ground level.
2. All valves in oil and vacuum lines are closed. All aeration valves and drain

valves are closed.


3. All switches are in off position.
4. ELECTRICAL POWER CONNECTION

The VPH-2400 System has a total connected power load of 163 Amps at
400VAC and Systems Main Control Panel contains a 200 amp fusible
disconnect switch which is fused at 200 amps.
Phase rotation protection is provided in the Main Control Panel.
Once proper phase/motor rotation is verified, close the electrical panel and
turn power off until such time that the system will be operated.
5. Oil heaters
Set the temperature indicating controller at 50, 55 & 60 deg . C
respectively. safety thermostat is factory preset at 110deg. C
6. Filter
Ensure the filter cartridges are fixed properly and check the cartridges when
choked.
7. Oil hose connection
Connect process hoses to the proper connections on the tank. The 2 inlet connection
to the plant must be connected to the bottom of the tank. The 1 outlet
connection from the plant must be connected placed away from the inlet connection
to ensure all the oil in the tank is processed.

OIL FILTRATION PROCEDURE(FOWLER WRESUP & FILTERVAC))


1. Check the insulation of HV and LV end.
2. Check the BDV of transformer oil and new oil from oil drum.

3. Filter the oil of new drum if oil BDV is low..


4. Check the pressure drop on pressure gauge. If there is no pressure drop,
proceed for further action of oil filling.
5. Drain out all old oil of oil filtration machine.
6. Clean the filters of filter machine.
7. Connect the filter machine suction line at the top of transformer and
discharge at bottom so that filtered hot oil will enter from the bottom of
transformer for proper mixing. Air bubble from filter machine will also go
towards the top.
8. Open the top side vents of oil conservator
9. Roll the new oil drums front and back approximately for 10 minutes to mix
oil and any other contained evenly.
10. Open oil drum caps and connect the pipes of filter machine.
11. Set the oil temperature between 65-750C.
12. Start filter machine as per the procedure of filter machine and admit oil
under slight pressure (max 0.3 Kg/Cm2) from lower part of transformer.
13. Vent air from Buckholtz vent as well as conservator vent. Close the vent
valves when oil comes out. This air venting is to be done periodically during
filtration.
14. Vent all entrapped air from conservator. Oil gauge glass should show full oil
level.
15. Check the BDV periodically during filtration up to desired value.
16. Top up oil (up to 300C level) as per dial magnetic oil gauge (MOG). Gauge
glass level will always show full.
17. Vent all entrapped air from Bucholtz, conservator and close all the valves.
Little oil should come out from the top vents.
18.After achieving BDV value, stop the filter machine and close suction and
discharge valves of filtration machine..
19. Keep transformer under evacuation to settle down & air bubble

will go up.
20. Recheck IR value of transformer both HV and LV side.
21. Disconnect all connected pipes and charge transformer.
CLEAR SITE:
All waste is to be cleared from site.
Plastics and hazard tape to be cleared and removed to waste bins.
Engineer and GPIC site cordinator to inspect area before works complete.
