Instructional Analysis Context:

We will conduct an hour and a half workshop for upper elementary teachers (grades
3-4) at Aynor Elementary School. This workshop will allow for 9 teachers to plan,
construct, and integrate an Achieve 3000 lesson using the tools and grouping
options within the program. Were holding this workshop because of the uncertainty
and hesitance many teachers feel toward Achieve 3000. Although the experience of
the teachers ranges from brand new to veteran, this is only the second full year
using Achieve 3000. Last year was the first full year of implementation and goal
setting/keeping with Achieve 3000. All teachers are interested in furthering their
understanding about Achieve 3000 and utilizing to reach the highest potential. This
program has proven to increase test scores and Lexile levels if implemented
correctly.
We will be analyzing the Lexile growth after the 1st 9 weeks of use at each grade
level. Students will use the computer labs within the school along with technology
devices in each classroom. Each classroom has 9-15 iPads, 4-7 desktops, and
minimal mini laptops. Students can provide their own earbuds.
NOTE: The students may use the program at home; however, home usage does not
affect Lexile growth.

Rationale:
Last year was the first year that faculty at Aynor Elementary implemented blended
learning weekly. During the 2014-2015 school year, three computer labs were
utilized in order to get the most exposure to the programs as possible. Fifth grade
had 1:1 devices, so they did Achieve 3000 in their rooms. Third and fourth grade
classes received 2 assigned computer lab times for 90 minute each week in order to
give students the opportunity to complete the required 2 activities. With so much
extra time, most students were able to complete more than 2 activities each week
resulting in more growth. Now that this year is bringing changes and the computer
labs will no longer be utilized in the same way, teachers much find new ways to use
the program in their classrooms. The students will not receive as much time as they
did the previous year which means it is detrimental to use all allotted time wisely.

From previous staff developments, I know that all learners are eager to gain more
knowledge about this program. They are looking forward to finding out the best
ways to implement activities in the classroom.

Performance context of learners and implications for

instruction:
The learners in the group are excited to get started. This is an optional workshop,
but all teachers have agreed to attend in order to expand their knowledge and
implementation options. All of these teachers have experience in each of their
designated grades along with the other grade level present from student teaching,
classroom teaching, or being a building curriculum coach at one point in time. All
learners used Achieve 3000 last year and have the basic knowledge necessary to
maneuver through the program and website. Multiple members of the group have a

Masters in Literacy which aids in the analysis of this reading program. I am on the
4th grade team and have a Masters in Instructional Technology. After the workshop,
the group will have access to two building curriculum coaches, the two presenters
with Instructional Technology degrees and the district technology personnel.
