Lesson Title: This Summer I
Grade Level: 2nd
Subject: English
Curriculum Goal: Acquire expressive writing skills
Learning Objectives: Write narratives in which they recount a well-elaborated event or short
sequence of events, include details to describe actions, thoughts, and feelings, use temporal
words to signal event order, and provide a sense of closure.

Equipment Needed/Materials:
Paper
Pencils
Computers (with word processing program)
Crayons

Lesson Summary:
Students will handwrite a short paragraph about what they did over the summer. After completing
that, they will take it to the computer and type it up on a word processing program. It will then be
printed off and they will draw a picture illustrating their story underneath the text.

Integration of Technology:
Integration of technology will come from learning how to type and use different font types and
sizes on word processing programs. This is an effective use of technology because it is a good
introduction to word processing and prepares them to type more in depth for the future.
