PRINCIPLES OF LEARNING

To realize my Intended Learning Outcomes, I will work my way through these steps:
My Map
My Learning Activities
As I observe a class, I will use the Observation Sheet for a more focused
observation then analyze and reflect on my observations with the help of guide
questions.
OBSERVATION SHEET #1
Resource Teacher: Maria Corazon S. Visande
School: Upper Tambler Elementary School II
Grade/Year Level: Grade 1
2016
Principles of Learning
Nonapplication/Contradiction
of the Principle
2. Learning is an active
process.
3. Learning is the
discovery of personal
meaning and
relevance of ideas.
1. Effective learning
begins with the
setting of clear and
high expectations and
learning outcomes.
Teachers Signature:
4. Learning is a
cooperative and a
collaborative process.
Learning is enhanced
in an atmosphere of
cooperation and
collaboration.
Teacher
makes
heterogeneous groups for
the pupils to work on with.
Pupils share their ideas and
it boosts their confidence
even if the answers are
wrong.
My Analysis
1. Which principle/s of learning was/were most applied?
Maam Visande mostly applied the principle Effective learning begins with the
setting of clear and high expectations and learning outcomes. Because every
time she teaches something, she motivates first the pupils. She constructs
activities that are suited for them and their abilities and lets them experience
the joy of their pride and confidence in learning new things. All of the
improvements of her pupils were recognized.
2. Which principle of learning was least applied? Why the principles was/were not
very much applied? Give instances where this/these principle/s could have been
applied.
Maam Visande least applied the principle Learning is a cooperative and a
collaborative process. Learning is enhanced in an atmosphere of cooperation
and collaboration. Because most of her activities were based individually like
individual seatwork in different subjects. She only apply this principle every
start and end of a subject.
3. How did the application of these learning principles affect learning?
If these learning principles werent conducted properly, then, the pupils
wouldnt learn anything new from the teacher. Pupils cannot develop
themselves and is not prepared to go to the next level of learning. Pupils might
lose their interest in learning and worst is dropping out to school.
4. How did the non-applicant of these learning principles affect learning?
The teacher really knows her pupils so even if she did the non-applicant of the
learning principles, the teacher thoroughly knows that her pupils can learn more
with her own style of teaching in lesson without using the application of the
learning principle.
My Reflections
5. Do you
with these
principles
of learning?
Or have you of
discovered
that
Myagree
reflections
and lessons
learned
on my observations
my Resource
they teachers/s
are not always correct?
Yes, I agree with these principles of learning because in my observation, Ive
of these
seen Application/non
these principlesapplication
being applied
and principles.
it is very effective, but for some rare
cases, it is not always correct for the teacher must always know what to do for
her pupils
to those
learn practices
best eventhat
if it is
a non-applicant
of these learning
principles.
Among
I observed,
which practices
will I adopt
and
which ones will
I improve on? What lessons did I learn?
Practices worth adopting
I will really adopt a clear and high expectation outcome for my pupils to
be more motivated in learning new things from me. I will also adopt
cooperative and collaborative process for my pupils to learn in their peers
Lessons I
have
learned
from my
observatio
ns on the
classroom
applicatio
n of the
principles
of
learning.
(Feel free
to write
your
reflections
outside the
given
questions).
You may wish to state the principles of learning in your own words or
illustrate each with diagrams. Feel free to choose how!
My Learning Portfolio
It is using
learning youll use for the pupils for there is no fixed rule regarding
which strategy is the best. It is also embracing and addressing the
needs of pupils with different learning styles. It is also making use of
diversified audio, visual or any presentations that the senses of the
pupils are involved for the full experience of learning the lessons and
most of all, it is to help pupils extend their learning by providing
lessons that are applicable in todays world.

INTENDED LEARNING
OUTCOMES/LESSON
OBJECTIVES AS MY
GUIDING STAR
My Map
I will observe three (3) different classes.
I will reflect on the guide questions given below.
To realize intended learning outcomes, I will follow these steps:
My Learning Activities
1. As I observe a class, I will use the Observation Sheet for a more focused
observation then analyze my observations with the help of guide questions then
reflect on my observations and answers.
Date:

Subject Area:
Teachers Signature:

10.
Share lesson objective with
students
11.
Lesson objectives/Intended
Learning Outcomes are Specific,
Measurable, Attainable, resultoriented and Time-bounded (SMART)
2. Ask permission from your resource Teacher for you to copy his/her lesson objective
for the days lesson. Did his/her lesson objectives serve as guiding star in the
sense that the development of the lessons was guided by his/her lesson
objectives/intended learning outcomes?
Yes, her lesson objectives served as a guiding star because the teacher
achieved her objectives and the pupils has a mastery level of 80% of the lesson.
My Analysis
1. Why is it sound teaching practice for a teacher to begin with the end in mind
and to share his/her lesson objectives or intended learning outcomes with
his/her students?
Because the teacher needs to think the end of her lessons for her to be
productive in her discussion with the pupils. The teacher needs to share her
objectives so that pupils are also aware of the things that the teacher is
teaching them and that they can also help to the teacher to an easy and
smooth discussion.
2. Did you find the lesson objective/s or intended learning outcome/s SMART?
Support your answer.
Yes, because the lesson objectives are not broad, can be learned within the
given of time and it is really appropriate to the lesson.
3. Do SMART objectives help the lesson become more focused?
Yes, because using SMART objectives makes the lesson more directed to the
path that is needed to take and with the help of SMART objectives, pupils can
learn more in a small period of time because the objectives are accurate and
concise.
4. Where the lesson objectives/intended learning outcomes in the cognitive,
psychomotor and affective domains? Support your answer.
Yes, because cognitive, psychomotor and affective domains lies on the different
activities that are given to the learners for them to develop their whole.
5. Is it necessary to have objectives always in the 3 domains-cognitive,
psychomotor and affective? Why or why not?
Yes, so that the pupils will develop the three domains in cognitive which is the
higher thinking order skill, psychomotor which is the coordination of mind and
body and affective for their values in their everyday living.
My Reflections
Any lesson learned or insights gained from your observation focused on
lesson objectives? Write them down here. Are lesson objectives truly the guiding
star in the development of a lesson? Or are lesson objectives sometimes
forgotten as the lesson develops?
For lesson objectives/learning outcomes to serve as guiding star in lesson
development, will it help if they are SMART?

objectives. (Dont forget to state your source)
