Killings, Shooting, and a constant battle of was it racist or not is something

America will always have to deal with and people do not get that until the
government addresses the problem and actually disciplines a cop for their wrong
doing then we are going to constantly have that problem. Before I dive into the
paper I want it to be known that this situation is a very sad one and one that must
require great attention and great detail. The Ferguson police department could
have handled the situation much better than what they did. First they could have
released information to the family and no one else. If it was any other murder to
any other human and cop was not the main suspect then they would have given
them suspect name and all the information that they requested. But, because it was
a cop a member of their family they withheld information from a family who had
just lost a son if the tables were turned things would have been super different.
Novabucks. Org and informational website about homicides stated Studies of
families of homicide victims suggest that they may be particularly at risk for
developing Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. When a family member is murdered,
the survivors often react with intense feelings of helplessness, fear and horror. The
diagnosis of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder is made when symptoms (listed below)
last for at least one month; the disturbance adversely affects an important area of
functioning, such as work or family relations; and criteria are met in the following
three categories.(http://www.novabucks.org/otherinformation/homicide/)
1. Recurrent and intrusive re-experiencing of the traumatic event, such as
dreams or flashbacks;
2. Avoidance of places or events which serve as reminders of the murder; and
3. Ongoing feelings of increased arousal such as constant vigilance or an
exaggerated startled reaction.

The brown family was going through some serious grief studies have shown
that when people lose a love one its a strong sense of wondering why him, why
my baby and thats all the brown family wanted. Then approaching the riots with
tear- gas and riot gear did nothing other than escalate the situation more. You have
a bunch of disgruntled people that are sick and tired of feeling like they are not
equal. The blacks were being misrepsented way before this happened NY times
was quoted the protests against the police have pitted the predominantly black
community against a nearly all-white police force. Of the 53 commissioned
officers in the Ferguson Police Department, four are black. Four black officers
what that is not fair when you got community of young black boys where is there a
different thought process a different background. All in all FPD could have
approached the situation by first telling the family they are doing a full
investigation on the cop and he will be suspended without pay until it is resolved.
Then could have had a community hearing before the riots even happen and simply
came out and told the community exactly what was going on so they could be at
peace.
The FPD did not respond to the community unrest in and effective
manner is was the worst manner and it just showed they had so much to hide if
they would have just came and said that they could have had a cop do some
wrongdoings then this whole thing would have been different. Being from and
inner city and seeing time after time again kids get killed and gunned down
whether it be from a cop or another member in the neighborhood the community
just wants a sense of hope. As in they want to know that the police department is
doing everything in its possible to find convict and make sure the person who
killed whoever they lost is behind bars. In the case of Michael brown it was in the
midst of a lot of racial profiling incidents and where tension was high across
America.
In FPD defense they have the right to protect their own. It is their duty to
make sure that all cops and their families are safe and sound and that the job does
not follow them home. So once the kid was pronounced dead the top of the food
chain of the police department instantly thought about what ways they could
protect the officer and protect his family. A well-known magazine in Missouri
named The salon exclaimed the police departments of Ferguson and St. Louis
County, Missouri, involved in a conspiracy to obstruct justice in the case of

Michael Browns murder? It seems disturbingly possible, given their actions over
the past month, hiding basic evidentiary information from the public in direct
violation of the states sunshine lawsand perhaps not even gathering it in the
first place. This raises the further possibly that evidence is being hidden from
criminal investigators as well, particularly since the investigators have shown no
great interest, much less zeal, in getting to the truth of the matter. NOW with this
being stated it is a magazine but the police department of Ferguson had no choice
but to be shady in the matter they could not just risk that cops life and his family
life. So on their part is was very little way past the point of return now. If they
would have released information earlier then maybe they could have prevents riots
but it is their jobs to protect the families of these cops and the cop.
With 67% being African American and having on 4 black on the whole force
that makes no sense to me thats just asking for trouble asking for a lot of mix ups.
21000 people is a lot of people and in the whole town you have four people who
have the same culture as them with the power to arrest convict and end someones
life it just doesnt add up. The reasons why they may have and all white force is
maybe African Americans are not applying for the jobs. Most African Americans
have a bad taste in their mouth from cops and instead of trying to make change
they want to continue to be a part of the cause. A white cop from st louis names
Erich Von Almen stated In the days after the August protests in Ferguson, he and
his white colleagues were on patrol in Jennings a neighboring suburb that's also
mostly African-American. He says he understood the outcry for more black
officers in communities such as this but that it's easier said than done.
"We can't get more black officers. We recruit predominantly at black schools, the
military, and for the life of me I don't know why. It's not the best-paying job; they'd
probably do better in the private sector (npr.org). That's all I can think of. But I
know it's not for the lack of trying. For years Ferguson Police have been mostly
white and they have grandfather-in their sons, brothers, cousins, and pals at the bar
so chance of a black male was slim unless they went through the whole process
and got lucky so it was pretty hard for people of color to make it in the police force
if they were not white.
Having, diversity in the workplace changes so many things it provides
different insight a different way of thinking a different reasoning. Organizations

employing a diverse workforce can supply a greater variety of solutions to

problems in service, sourcing, and allocation of resources. Employees from diverse
backgrounds bring individual talents and experiences in suggesting ideas that are
flexible in adapting to fluctuating markets and customer demands. A diverse
collection of skills and experiences (e.g. languages, cultural understanding) allows
a company to provide service to customers on a global basis. A diverse workforce
that feels comfortable communicating varying points of view provides a larger
pool of ideas and experiences. The organization can draw from that pool to meet
business strategy needs and the needs of customers more effectively
(mulitcultraladvantage.org) Workforce diversity increases creativity within a
company because heterogeneous groups are cross-fertilizing one another within the
organization. According to Ethno Connect, a consulting company specializing in
workforce diversity, employees from different backgrounds bring in a variety of
solutions on how to achieve a common goal (ethnoconnect.com). As more diverse
ideas are suggested, the chances of finding a workable answer are improved. In
atmospheres when brainstorming is necessary, more ideas are formed because team
members are culturally diverse. For example, employees from China working in
American companies may approach a problem totally differently than do American
workers. Some companies have successfully created innovative processes by
taking ideas from several employees. Workforce diversity can bring about an
increase in productivity and competitive advantages. Employers can offer more
solutions to customers because of new ideas and processes brought into the
organization. Workplace diversity increases employee morale and causes
employees to desire to work more effectively and efficiently. Diversity in
leadership within a firm allows managers to bring in new skills and methods for
achieving unity within their teams. All these apply to cops, government and any
work place and in any work place there should be diversity.
