Standard III: Learner Centered Technology and Information Access

Principle 2: The librarian models and promotes the highest standard of conduct,
ethics, and integrity in the use of the Web and other print and electronic
resources.
B. Does not mark copy-enabled equipment with copyright warning notices

After checking all the copiers and printers in the library, classroom, and
offices, it was disturbing to see that not a single piece of copy-enabled equipment
was marked with any sort of copyright warning notice which is why we rated a
below standard on the Principle 2:B of Standard III. The copiers are only located in
the main office, conference room, and in the three designated PLC rooms. The
library and most of the classrooms have printers. There is no copier in the library.
As soon as I get the opportunity, I will create a copyright warning notice and have
the teachers place them near their copy-enabled equipment, i.e. printer. The
librarian will take on the responsibility of placing the copyright warning notices on
the copiers in the main office, conference room, and the PLC rooms.
On our campus, not a single copy enabled machine (printers or copiers) has a
copyright warning notice. According to Strategies for Librarian, Standard III, Principle 2,
there should be a copyright notice on every single copier and printer. To be in
compliance with this standard, copyright notices were created and placed on every
single copier and printer on our campus. The copyright notice were placed in each of
the following rooms:
