I dont want to know more about

human suffering. It seems to be the focus of many facets of education from middle school to
high school. Educators seem to think that children have no concept of human suffering; that they
have never been witness to misery. I would beg to differ. Children are the most vulnerable
members of society, being solely dependent upon the adults around them to look after them and
take care of them. To assume that no child in a classroom has been victimized or has endured
some kind of suffering is preposterous. I would rather see schools assigning their students
material with uplifting, inspiring messages. With hope. We have so much suffering in this world
that anyone can suffer, but only few can hope.
