Sunday, December 4, 2016 - Second Sunday of Advent

A PEEK AT THE SUNDAY SERMON

On Sunday I will be sharing a message titled A Season of Revelation. My sermon

text, which will be reprinted in the SermonNotes insert, is John 1:6-9:
6 God

sent a man, John the Baptist, 7 to tell about the light so that everyone might believe because of his
testimony. 8 John himself was not the light; he was simply a witness to tell about the light. 9 The one who is
the true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.

Webster defines the word revelation as a dramatic disclosure of something not

previously known or realized.
John makes known to the world - powerful truths! His message is a dramatic disclosure
of something not previously known!
As we explore his writing, I believe three important facts of the Advent Season will
emerge. Hope to see you in our Morning Worship!

Jesus A Branch from Davids Line!

Isaiah 11:1-10 is the suggested daily Bible reading for Sunday, December 4th (2016
U.C.C. Calendar). This is a beautiful, Advent Season promise from the Old Testament.
11 Out of the stump of Davids family will grow a shoot yes, a new
Branch bearing fruit from the old root. 2 And the Spirit of the LORD will rest
on him the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and
might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD. 3 He will delight in
obeying the LORD. He will not judge by appearance nor make a decision
based on hearsay. 4 He will give justice to the poor and make fair
