Reflection on Discourse Community Map

I feel I did accomplish the purpose of the assignment on discourse communities. I can use this
lesson in the future as a tool to analyze a specific topic and use it to map out a person of interest
in several different environments, or discourse communities such person would belong to. This
tool serves as a more analytical approach, and forces one to approach the information with more
critical thinking.
The criteria for the assignment has been meet by using the tools provided such as the triangle
method, and the discourse community map in order to identify the groups the individual we
analyzed as a group belongs to.
The writing process used in this assignment facilitated the overall progress by identifying the
groups the individual belongs and dissecting each group right down to the members, objectives,
and specific lexicon used in each discourse community. The revision process was conducted in a
peer review form using critical thinking skills, which made it very effective.
If i had the opportunity i would have used a more linear approach to the assignment like an
outline. However I understand that in a group presentation for peer review, a more visual form
such as a discourse community map would be more appropriate since one wants to provide a
wider spectrum of the audience with the necessary tools to understand the presentation.
I do not think any of the reading provided were in vain, since we were able to utilize fragments
of every reading material to create a more complete picture on the individual analized.

Reflection on Rhetorical Analysis Website

I definitively feel we accomplished the purpose of the assignment due to the fact that the purpose
was to inform and provide the audience with the necessary tools for the ease of navigation
through the website, this analysis provided the user with a complete dissection of the ethos,
pathos, and logos. Through the research on this particular assignment i have learned a great deal
on the American Red Cross, including history, current leadership and the exact function of the
Red Cross.The lessons learned in this assignment are useful in a vast array of situations including
everyday leisure websites because it provides the necessary navigation and investigative tools.
The writing process for this assignment obstructed my personal writing process because i had to
rely on peer performance rather than my own in order to complete the process, although i am a
firm believer in teamwork and collaboration, this particular assignment proved to be especially
slow moving and tediouswhen it came to pulling all the information together for a perfect flow.
The revision process was effective because it was a peer review, however i found it to be time
consuming. The form of reading most helpful for this particular assignment was the website itself
due to the nature of the assignment.

Reflection on Community Problem Report

I feel I have accomplished the purpose of this assignment due to the fact, all criteria have been
meet, such as the APA formatting, the peer revision and the use of reliable sources such as
journals, and in this-case respected members of the medical community. By researching the
assigned topic, I have learned that there is a staggering increase of cosmetic procedures by
adolescent teens and young adults, I have also learned how to research several different sources
and put them to use in an organized coherent manner. These skills I have now acquired will
enable me to be able to organize independent sources in a research paper format so that other
people can understand the information I am about to present. I believe there is no one specific
situation in which these lessons would be applicable, but many different scenarios such as job
related and other higher education assignments. As previously stated, I feel I have meet the
criteria for this assignment because of the use of the sources, formatting and resources. The
writing process for this assignment greatly facilitated the progress by streamlining the ultimategoal of the assignment. The revision process was effective greatly due to the use of peers and the
witting lab resources used. In my opinion the form of reading that was least helpful for this
assignment was the journal part of the research, this form provided the least information, whereas the books and other sources provided the most, and most valuable information.
Reflection on Brochure
I feel the purpose of the brochure assignment was accomplished because the main discussion
points were addressed. There were many lessons I learned with this particular assignment, the
first thing is how to actually make a brochure. The second thing was to use medical
information and statistics in order to conform them in a compressed and comprehensive manner.
There are several different situations these lessons can be applied to. A specific situation would
be during a corporate presentation where research is involved. I feel the criteria for this
assignment was meet because the ethos, pathos and logos were meet by the several different
points i covered through out the brochure and during the presentation. The writing process for
this assignment facilitated my progress by allowing me to utilize all the research mediums like
the television shows, and magazines available out there in every day life. The revision process I
used for this assignment is very effective because of the use of peer review, word and grammar
checkers, and the University Writing Lab. The form of reading i found the most helpful were the
medical reviews and statistics, and the several different books i previously read during the
research process, however the least helpful form of reading was the journal, due to the fact that
the information on this particular journal was very abstract.
