Post-Production Diary

After filming our initial footage, we began editing the rough cut. This was
primarily completed and organised by Miles, who was the editor of our
production. Miles used software both inside and outside of school, however all
team members contributed towards post-production.
Day 1:
Date 23/11/16
On our first day of post-production, we first reviewed our footage and selected
the shots we were going to use, based on quality. This was first done for the title
sequence, wherein we then had to find an appropriate order of shots that was
both visually appealing and appropriate in terms of narrative. We decided upon
establishing the association of fear (or nightmares) with art through initially
vague paintings, then refining this to the drawings which directly link to the
narrative. This was put in order on the timeline by Bailee, and on this day I
imported and cut the audio clip used as theme music. This was selected by using
the two potential clips we had previously looked at, and deciding which one was
best suited to the genre, narrative and visual elements. We also allocated the
following roles in order to ensure that the necessary work was completed:
Miles Imported the initial clips and put it all together in timeline
Michelle Imported music and put it into place
Bailee Put the title sequence in order
Chris Put the kidnapping shots in order

Day 2:
Date 24/11/16
On our second day of post-production, we moved on from the title sequence and
began to edit the conversation/kidnapping scene. Within this, we each had
individual tasks in order to work efficiently, as shown below:
Miles Went through title sequence, cut down sequence, added stabiliser to
shots that needed
Michelle Cut down kidnapping clips, matched up the audio
Bailee Edited audio, matched up audio with Michelle
Chris Cut down kidnapping clips, put them into place

This allowed us to work quickly and efficiently as a team, whilst also

collaborating on certain elements (i.e cutting down clips and matching audio).

Day 3:
Date 28/11/16
This was our final day of editing for the rough cut, in which we simply refined and
finalised our previous work. This included minimal colour correction, as well as
adding titles, in order to make our production as conventional and aesthetically
pleasing as possible. This was completed in school and as a team, allowing us to
make decisions as a group.
Evaluation
Overall, I am pleased with the way in which we worked during post-production for
our rough cut, as well as the work completed. I think that our rough cut was
completed to the best of our ability, and will enable us to reflect and continue
editing towards the final cut. We also collaborated well as a team, and that the
allocation of individual tasks allowed us to work as efficiently as possible, whilst
also ensuring that we completed everything we needed to.
