MONTHLY CRIME BULLETIN
Burglary
May 2010

Activity Summary:
There were sixteen (16) burglaries reported in May, 2010. There were twelve (12) burglaries reported during
the same timeframe in 2009. This is a 33% increase from 2009 to 2010.
Twelve (12), or 75%, of the incidents involved residential locations, two (2) involved commercial
locations, one (1) involved a school, and one (1) involved a residential outbuilding.
Eight (8) incidents, or 50%, involved forced entry.
Four (4) incidents, or 25%, were discovered on a Monday and four (4) on a Saturday.
The highest concentration of incidents was discovered between the hours of 0800 and 2000.
Thirteen (13) incidents are still open for further investigation, two (2) have been closed with leads
exhausted and one (1) has been closed cleared by arrest.

Historically, HPD has an average of 19 burglaries during the month of May with a current threshold of 8 to 30. This
May, we were within our threshold with 16 reported burglaries.

Forecast for June:


The average number of burglaries for the month of June is 18 plus or minus 6. By the end of June, there is a 68%
chance HPD will have received between 12 and 24 reported burglaries.
