Who We Are
The Boston Veterans Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for
veterans in the greater Boston area. Incorporated for charitable and educational purposes under
Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, the
Foundation aims to educate the public about important
issues facing Boston area veterans, and support charitable
activities designed to improve the life of Boston area
veterans.
The majority of the veterans in Boston have established
productive post-military careers and functional, nurturing
home lives. However, some still struggle to gain access to
healthcare, housing, jobs, and education. The Foundation works with city, state, and federal
agencies to ensure that all Boston area veterans find the services they need and deserve.

Budget Overview
Generally, the Foundations funding is drawn from city, state, and federal grants, as well as
private donations. The following table provides an overview of funding sources for the past five
years.

The Boston Veterans Foundation budget accounts for five main categories of expenditures. In
addition to general operating expenses, the foundation supports programs related to education
advising for veterans, housing assistance for veterans and their families, and job training for
unemployed or underemployed veterans. In addition, the foundation helps plan and host
memorial services for veterans throughout the Boston area. The following chart illustrates the
percentage of our budget allotted to each of these important programs:
