To Whom It May Concern:
It is my pleasure to highly recommend and endorse Mr. Daniel Spalinger. I had the opportunity to work
with Mr. Spalinger as his supervisor at Sequoia Middle School in the Conejo Valley Unified School
District during the 2012 2014 school years. Mr. Spalinger exhibits many fine qualities that make him
highly qualified for the teaching credential program at the University of La Verne.
Mr. Spalinger has already amassed a wide variety of experiences in the field of education at both the
elementary and secondary levels. While under my supervision, he served as a campus supervisor,
basketball coach and an intervention support specialist at Sequoia Middle School. In addition, he has
worked as a physical education teacher at the elementary school level and as an intern at a non-profit
organization. These experiences have provided him with multiple opportunities to work with students
from varying ages, backgrounds, and academic needs.
As a campus supervisor, Mr. Spalinger was responsible for maintaining the safety of the campus. He
went above and beyond to establish trust so that students knew he was available for support, should the
need arise. He also assisted in an RtI (Response to Intervention) program that provided homework
assistance and goal setting to middle school students. His role as basketball coach and physical education
teacher provided him with the opportunity to implement curriculum and standards in small and large
group settings.
Mr. Spalinger exhibits outstanding connections to the students he works with; he takes the time to get to
know them as individuals. He fully realizes the importance of school belonging and utilizes this in his
interactions on campus. This trait will serve him well in the classroom.
Mr. Spalinger is also a team player and is a strong collaborator. He collaborated with teachers, staff and
the administrators/counselors in order to meet the needs of the students he was working with. He
demonstrates excellent communication skills when speaking to students, staff and parents as well.
Daniel has many fine personal qualities that he brings with him to the field of education. He is organized,
collaborative, a team player and is willing to step out of his comfort zone to try new things. It is my
pleasure, to highly recommend Mr. Daniel Spalinger, for the teaching credential program at University of
La Verne; he will be an asset to your educational institution. Please contact me with any questions.
Sincerely,

Hallie Chambers
