Multi-Camera Production Roles


You will be producing 3-4 interviews during your chat show. For each
interview state who will be doing which role. You must do EVERY role once
during the show.

Describe their job - Reference your research
Is a person who directs the making of a production, in a film a director generally takes
control of a films artistic and dramatic aspects, and visualizes the script while guiding
the technical crew and actors in the fulfilment of that vision. The director has to choose
the cast members, production design and the creative aspects of filmmaking

Camera Person
Describe their job - Reference your research
Is a professional operator of a film or video camera in filmmaking. The camera
operator is responsible for physically operating the camera and maintaining
composition and camera angles throughout a given scene or shot

What skills do they need to do their job well?


Important camera operator skills include choreographing and framing
shots knowledge of and the ability to select appropriate camera lenses,
and other equipment (dollies, camera, cranes) to portray dramtic
scenes.

Sound Mixing
Describe their job - Reference your research
Sounnd mixing will ensure that all sound is crystal clear by using the audio from mics
and editing to remore any background sound so it is clear enough for the audience.
They will run tests before shooting begins in order to ensure that sound is good

Which part of the studio do they work in? (ie control room, studio floor)
Sound mixing will work in the control room as they will need to use mizing equipment
in order to ensure that the audio is clear

What skills do they need to do their job well?


Good technical skills with all the equipment they are using

Vision Mixing
Describe their job - Reference your research
Editing footage live as it is being recorded using a vision mixer. They must be familiar
with script as well as taking direction from the director so that they know when to cut
between shots

Control room

What skills do they need to do their job well?


Vision mixer will require good communication skills they will need to be able to
multitask and work well under pressure

Graphics Generator

Describe their job - Reference your research


Make graphics for the show that are used throughout. These are often used
in the opening titles and closing credits.

Which part of the studio do they work in? (ie control room, studio floor)
The graphics would need to be ready before the shoot in live shows so these would be
pre-recorded before the pre-production and then put into the show in the control room.

What skills do they need to do their job well?


They will need skills to create the graphics

Studio floor as they will be switching between lights frequently

What skills do they need to do their job well?


They will need to be aware of their surroundings as they need good technical
knowledge of the lighting

Floor Manager
Describe their job - Reference your research
A floor manager is a member of the crew of a television show that is responsible for
giving information from the director in the control room, to the crew on the studio floor,
and then back to the director

Which part of the studio do they work in? (ie control room, studio floor)
They work on the studio floor however they get their information from the director in
the control room

What skills do they need to do their job well?


They traditionally have no qualities working in television, and work up to the position to
floor manager. They need to know the other technical positions in a studio in order to
do their job effectively. They must be able to work under pressure, anticipate potential
problems and know how to address them, communicate effectively and quickly. Be able
to work with different personalities and know how to multitask. As well as good sense
of timing and space.

Set Design
Draw a plan of your set. Mark on the position of lights, cameras, props and Greenscreen backgrounds.
Add in photographs of your final set, including props etc.

Lighting Design
Take photographs of the lighting set up for the following sections of your
show;
a) The presenter introducing the show
b) Interviews (the lighting may be different for different interviews)
c) The end of the show
Stick the photographs in and add notes explaining the setup.

Studio Management Plans

dd and label the following to the plan of the studio floor;


a) The main studio
b) The control room
c) The storeroom
d) The editing suite
e) The main office
f) Your four cameras
g) Up to fourMicrophones
h) Where each Assigned Role will be located (ie Director, Vision Mixer etc)
i) Where you will keep your interviewees before they come on the set. A
green room should be comfortable with sufficient seating for all your
guests. Any noise of their chatting should not be heard on set.
