EMBODYING THE TREE OF LIFE:

A MEDITATION
Close your eyes and take a few slow, deep breaths,
then allow yourself to breath naturally and continue
to be with the breath, the in-breath and the out-breath
and the pauses between at the nose or mouth.
Imagine there is a Crown of dazzling
invisible light sitting atop your head.
This wondrous vaporous ring of light
is the first outpouring, the first emanation,
of the Infinite One who will be what
it will be. It is the divine Desire
and Will to create, to unfold, to manifest
Itself as Creator. Also called
Nothingness, it is the supreme
creative emptiness, the forever pure
and potent potentiality that is
the Source, the Root, of all energy,
all existence, all possibility.
This divine Will, this primal creative
impulse, this leading light, is realized
in your deepest soul, your highest humblest
self. In that unique and essential center
of your being you are ever at one
with the Desire and Will of
the Eternal One.
Now imagine a ray of light emanating
from the Crown and beginning to flow
down into your head and into the right
hemisphere of your brain, filling you
with the light, the energy, of Wisdom.
This is the light of insight, the flash
of intuition, the lightning jolt
of inspiration, the instantaneous
revelation, the pure, unriven spark
of realization, the sudden single
Point of illumination. It is knowing
in essence before knowing in detail,

knowing all at once before knowing

anything in particular, the primordial
realization that all is always one.
This divine Wisdom is experienced
in the living depths of your spirit.
Now imagine the energy, the light,
continuing to flow into the left side
of your head into the left hemisphere
of your brain, releasing the energy
of Understanding, the power to create
distinct thoughts, images and ideas
and to discern discrete beings and happenings.
Understanding is called the supernal
Mother of creation, the Womb of existence,
the primal Palace of time and space.
She is Creator of all conceptions
and creatures, miraculously conceiving
the inconceivable and materializing
the immaterial. In her womb the One
Reality differentiates Itself
into a Diversity, a Plurality,
a Many-in-One family of unique
and united individuals.
In her palace of production the Whole
articulates and proliferates
into sundry parts that cohere
in essential solidarity.
This divine Understanding is cognized
in the discerning depths of your
intellectual soul.
Now imagine the light continuing to
flow down through your neck and into your right
shoulder, arm and fingers, releasing
the energy of Lovingkindness, the loving
light of grace and generosity,
the magnanimous energy of boundless
giving and nurturing that binds all
creation together in tender embrace.
Also called Greatness, this is the grand good
energy of affirmation, the overflowing
AYes!@ to life and to all who are in need,
the ever-merciful hand that feeds

and consoles all creatures unconditionally.

This divine Lovingkindness is felt
in the sweet core of your emotional soul.
Now imagine the light flowing into your left
shoulder, arm and fingers, releasing
the divine energy of Strength. This is
the power to set boundaries, borders,
and limits, the power to restrain others
as well as discipline your own self.
Also called Judgment, it is the discerning
and protective energy that knows when
to say No! and Enough! and No more!@
Strength is a containing and constraining
energy that secures individuality
and guards diversity, demanding justice,
equity and safety. It is the awesome
ordering energy of the universe
that upholds natural laws like cause and
effect. This divine Strength is felt in the
potent depths of your emotional soul.
Now imagine the light pouring down into
your heart and spreading out into your belly
and torso, releasing the energy
of Beauty, the lovely light of Balance
and Harmony. Also called Compassion,
this is the sensitive intelligence
that caringly responds to suffering
of self and others and brilliantly
balances generosity with restraint.
It is the sacred Truth of the heart
and gut that knows how to harmonize
the Yes! of Lovingkindess with the No!
of Strength. This divine Beauty is felt in
the compassionate depths of your
emotional soul.
Now imagine the light flowing into your right
thigh, leg, foot, toes, releasing the energy
of Endurance, the invincible light
of Victory that allows you to keep going,
to persevere, to persist through and beyond
obstacles, to overcome painful setbacks

and frustrating detours. It is the effective

power that keeps you ever progressing forward,
ever moving onward, the power to rise up
after every fall and revive after
every defeat and despair and to rededicate yourself to the holy
journey of life. This divine Endurance
is felt in the resilient depths of
your emotional soul.
Now imagine the light flowing into your left
thigh, leg, foot, toes, releasing the energy
of Splendor, which is the majestic light
of Gratitude, the graceful power to
empathically appreciate and be
thankful for all that exists. This is
the elegant energy of self-surrender,
the splendid capacity to contain
oneself to make warm and welcoming room
for the splendor of others. This divine
power to prize anothers preciousness
and to shape artistic works shining
with loveliness is felt in the empathic
depths of your emotional soul.
Now imagine the light pouring into
your genitals, releasing the energy
of Foundation, the fundamental
energy of balanced, mutual
relationships that is also the juicy
wellspring of vital eroticism
and the flowing fountain of playful
expression and seminal creativity.
This exuberant energy buoyantly
balances the self-assertion of Endurance
with the self-surrender of Empathy
and so generates just right relations
that are fundamentally equal
and reciprocal. This divine Foundational
energy is felt in the fecund depths
of your emotional soul.
Now imagine the light flowing down and out
of your body and between your legs

and then surrounding your body while

flowing out of your mouth. This is
the energy of Kingdom, which is
also the Queendom, the holy dominion
of the divine Feminine Presence.
This joyful power is the most palpable
energy of divinity, the sheen
of reality, the gleam of existence,
the glistening glory of the world
and auric radiance of the body.
It is the active power of completion
and peaceful power of final fulfillment,
a receptive energy influenced,
fertilized and fulfilled by all other
divine forces and felt in the natural
rhythms of your embodied soul.
Feel yourself surrounded by this glorious
queenly Presence as it seeks to console
and comfort you and all creation.
Feel it expressing and completing itself
through you, through your mouth, your speech,
your deed. Allow yourself to feel all of these
divine energies coursing through your being,
creating, nurturing, sustaining and
evolving your very existence.
Realize that each of these life-changing
energies is ever present and
available when you sink deeper
and deeper into your being, your essence,
your divine core.
Now slowly prepare to come out of this meditation.
You may wish to offer silent thanks for whatever
you have experienced. Now slowly open your eyes
and witness the holy light-filled beings all around you!
