3 Design Conditions
1.3.1 Inside Design Conditions
As a general guideline for summer air-conditioning design, the thermal comfort chapter of the ASHRAE
fundamentals handbook which was also based from ASHRAE 55 provides a snapshot of the psychometric chart for
the summer comfort zones. For most of the comfort systems applications, the recommended indoor temperature
and relative humidity were at 24C dry bulb temperatures & 50% relative humidity.

1.3.2 Outside Design Condition
Outdoor design conditions are determined from published data for the specific location, based on Manila at 2%
annual cumulative frequency of occurrence on annual cooling, dehumidification, and enthalpy design conditions
obtained from climatic design data tables from ASHRAE fundamentals handbook 2013.

1.3.3 Ventilation Air Design Condition

Supply air design conditions is the same as the outside design condition. Using general type of ventilation system
the air is being introduced by the fan inside therefore the conditioned space is in positive pressure and no infiltration
calculation will be performed.
1.3.4 Architectural Design Condition
The building envelop is assumed to build by the following materials.
Walls east and west wall consist of 0.5 in. cement plaster, 6 in. thick hollow concrete block, north and
south wall consist of 0.5 in. cement plaster, 6 in. hollow concrete block.
Glass - North wall consist of glass wall with areas 39 m 2 and glass door with areas of 7.5 m 2 the glass used
are made from 0.5 in. single layered tempered glass.
Floor and Ceilings - The floor is made up of tiles and 0.150 in. concrete slab and the ceiling is made of
0.150 m concrete slab with a 2 m drop for the installation of other structural concerns.
