criterion for:
Iop Iop.0
Type: Iop for transverse differential current, Iop.0 for action current setting value.
Normal operation of generator, connected to transverse differential protection between the
two neutral points, the unbalanced current is mainly the fundamental wave, in the external short
circuit, the unbalanced current is mainly third harmonic components, in order to reduce the
protection setting value and improve the sensitivity, and protection has also increased the third
harmonic wave function. Transverse differential protection instantaneous action is on export.

When the Rg is less than or equal to the grounding resistance setting value, after the delay
send rotor one-point grounding signal or act on the trip.
Generator excitation circuit of one-point grounding fault, and it did not cause harm to
generator, but if the sequential second point grounding fault, it will threaten the safety of the
generator.
After one-point grounding fault, protection device continued measure grounding resistance
and grounding position, thereafter if the rotor another point grounding fault, is measured value
change, when the changes value exceeds a setting value, protection device on the confirmation
for rotor ground points fault already happened, was immediately trip. Protection criterion for:
| | > set

5.7 Loss of Excitation Protection

Generator excitation system failure causes the excitation reduces or all magnetic loss, leading
to the generator and the system out of step, on the unit itself and the security of the power system
of causing significant harm. The terminal has a separate circuit breaker, a smaller capacity, loss of
excitation protection using static stability impedance signal, asynchronous impedance exports
jump terminal circuit breaker protection scheme, aimed directly at the generator operating
conditions reduce the abnormal operation of the external system, with TV disconnection interlock.
16

GTG-84X Generator Protection Measurement and Control Device

Loss of excitation protection main criterion can be by the following criterion:
The static stability boundary impedance main criterion: impedance fan round action
criterion
.
.
for matching generator static stability boundary circle, using 0 connection mode ( U ab I ab ),
action characteristics shown in Figure 4.6.1, after generator loss of excitation, terminal locus of
measured impedance by the graph I quadrant over time into the quadrant, of the static stability
boundary near the entry circle.
The static stability boundary impedance criterion is satisfied, at least delay 1s ~1.5s send
magnetic loss signal, pressure signal output or tripping, delay 1s ~1.5s is due to the oscillation of
the system. Fan and R axis angle between 10~15 is to avoid the generator outlet via a transition
resistance of interphase short circuit, as well as from the leading phase operation of generator
normal.

Picture 5-8 static stability boundary impedance criterion action characteristic

In order to prevent the loss of excitation protection misoperation, recommended in the static
stability sector loss-of-excitation protection criterion setting calculation method of xd value is: xd
= xd (nameplate) / 1.3.
Stable asynchronous boundary impedance criterion
The generator occurs that any can lead to deactivation step after loss of excitation, always to
the static stability boundary, and then transferred to the asynchronous operation, and steady-state

Stable asynchronous boundary circle motion region is much smaller than the static stability
boundary sector action zone.
Protection scheme is characterized in that: the magnetic loss or partial loss of excitation step,
static stability impedance circle action, by tsc1=1s~1.5s delay send loss of excitation signal, is not
trip, allow loss of magnetic generator longer run continues to the system output power; the tsc2
delay, hop sectionalizing switch, reduce the generator load. Asynchronous impedance circle action
after long time delay tsc3 =1s ~300s tripping. In the diagram, while the asynchronous impedance
circle by Tsc3 delay single trip, but won't happen for setting error in normal during progressive
phase operation error jump, because the asynchronous impedance action round small, starting
current Iset take 0.3A
Tsc1 exit send loss of excitation signal, the Tsc2 after action act on the trip.

5.16 Abnormal Frequency Protection

When power system has active and insufficient, it will generate low frequency. Low
frequency operation makes the turbine blade subjected to fatigue damage; this irreversible fatigue
damage is accumulated to a certain extent makes the blade fracture, resulting in serious fault. In
the electric power system of sudden load rejection or the occurrence of many faults, will produce
over frequency. Sometimes the turbine governor fault will lead to frequency.
Low frequency protection through two fixed value of F1, F2 to make frequency range
divided into two frequency bands, and F1 > f2.
When section I f1>ff2, time is t1
When section II f<f2, time is t2
Over frequency protection only with section I,
After abnormal frequency by a delay action to send signal or trip.
The protection is provided with line voltage low blocking criterion. Logic block diagram is
shown in figure5-17.

GTG-84X Generator Protection Measurement and Control Device

(3) The power wiring is correct, the first direct current electrical application of multimeter
tools such as confirmation of useless DC short circuit phenomenon.
(4) If necessary, well connected and installed printer printing paper (the printer power
supply AC 220V) printer cable connected correctly and reliably.
(5) Using a multimeter to check the screen (or device) external terminals TV secondary
circuit is not short, TA secondary circuit does not open.
(6) Check all of device ground terminal grounding whether reliable.
(7) Quit all protection trips (full screen debugging).
(8) If it is connected to the background, should check the Ethernet connection or serial
connection whether correct link connect.
(9) The above examination such as found in trouble, please click the relevant drawings
repair, if can not repaired, stop debugging, contact with the manufacturers.

8.3 Energizing Test

(1) Energize
First electricity should observe, accident should be timely power inspection. Liquid crystal
display device in general, electricity can hear 24V power monitoring relays and power on the
action of the relay. If the LCD display improperly, can pull out the power plug in addition to all
plug-ins, electrifying testing, liquid crystal display then insert the plug observation, to identify
abnormal plug.
(2) The plug-in module check
After electrifying running lights, alarm, tripping signal lamp should pass key return. Through
the configuration of the system -- the module information menu examination management CPU,
protection CPU, display CPU intelligent plug-in 1, smart plug-ins 2 indicators such as "normal",
show that the plug into a normal working state, can proceed to the next stage of commissioning.
Also it can through system configuration -- software version check and record for each CPU
module software version, CRC checksum etc.
(3) Setting
According to the dispatching departments setting form to set, soft plate cast back setting and
system configuration settings, see the 5 device set and setting. Only conduct a comprehensive
setting correctly to ensure the reliable, convenient debugging and operation.
(4) The switch input check
Through the debugging operation -- open check menu can check device remote open state is
correct. The wiring should be taken to ensure that open into the negative power supply access
(control), the open end and positive power short observation. In the LCD interface accord to the
display," 0" means invalid; "1" means valid. There are a number of remote signals input reflect the
breaker operating circuit real time status, so it is necessary to access the circuit breaker control
circuit and analog circuit can correctly reflect, such as jumping, closing position.
(5) Relay open circuit check
Through the debugging operation -- open transmission menu can check the relay is correct

44

GTG-84X Generator Protection Measurement and Control Device

action. Note it return automatically after transmission relay for 5s, so transmission should be ready
for multimeter or traffic lights junction. Note: must be quit running in the conditions of device
(screen) has been completely.
(6) Analog value input check
On screen ( device ) AC current, voltage input by adding rating, circulating in the main
interface analog value interface 1, analog interface 2 (A lockable interface ) the amount. If you
need to check the detailed protection analog value, measurement analog values size, phase
relations, through the analog value menu selection of observation.
Display error are protective current does not exceed the applied value of + 2.5%, voltage
does not exceed the rated value of + 0.2%, measuring current does not exceed the rated value +
0.2%.
Because the product manufactured before the strict testing has been done, the general site
does not need to adjust the scale; if a path error is too large or unusual, should be through a variety
of methods to confirm it is the device causes or external test equipment or junction, confirmation
device causes or did not find by the adjustment of professionals or contact with the manufacturers.
(7) Sequence check
Through the analog value menu, it can check each channel phase sequence of analog value.
