PROBLEM
Lack of Employee Motivation and Appraisal
Rohit is not motivated to work because her leader has an autocratic approach. She
does not consider employee suggestions as an important factor to groom them.
Her communication was only one way which was flowing as an order rather than
giving employees the chance to step up their suggestions and ideas. They feel that
no matter how creative their idea is, top management wouldnt appreciate that.
When employees are not admired for their skills and ideas, they are not motivated
to work in the organization because they feel unimportant.

SOLUTION
Performance Appraisal Systems
These would help to evaluate and measures employees achievements and
behaviours. It helps the managers to evaluate employees performance where
strengths and weaknesses are identified so the employee would be aware for their
improvement areas. Performance appraisal is the right time to set new goals and
objectives for the employees.
Maslows Hierarchy of Needs
Though theres no problem with physiological needs because of high salary and
job security as long as youre doing your task, employees needs to grow and
learn new things to improve them. As a manager you can account social needs by
encouraging cooperative teamwork and accessible manager while in esteem needs
by offering praise and recognition when the employee does well. Also selfactualization needs providing challenging work, inviting employees to participate
in decision-making and giving them flexibility and autonomy in their jobs. Once
employees given a chance to participate in decision making process, it will
excites and motivate them to think creative idea that would help the organization.

III.

BEST SOLUTION
Desk Bunch System
Where in one desk, the bunch of employees would suggests their ideas and
discuss it as a team with the Manager who will forward the ideas to top
management. There, the manager can evaluate the employees base on the effort
they put to come up with those ideas. Being part of decision making in the
organization will boost their morale at a greater level.

IV.

Justify
Through this system, the employees are given a chance to speak whats on his/her
mind. It will give the best solutions for the problem facing by the team. Like in

Rohits case, he shares his ideas in mind and expect some suggestions from his
teammates to compare but no one does. The members are afraid of being blame if
they suggest different idea with Aparan and will fail afterwards. So Aparan must
initiate this kind of brainstorming to regain the employees confidence and to
work as a human not a robot.
