My second goal is always assess students
understanding of my lessons to inform future
planning.
I aim to assess students understanding of my lessons
because it is very significant aspect in teaching to
ensure that all the students understanding the lesson
well to move on with another lesson. Children learn
and process knowledge differently and they are also
vary in the speed of learning. According to Bakula,
ongoing assessments are very useful and important
in learning to determine if students understand or not
and she compare it with summative assessments
which teachers do it at the end of the unit. Moreover,
she argued that formative or ongoing assessments
help her to improve teaching and learning for the
students (2010). So I will try to use ongoing
assessments during my lessons and also I will use
summative assessments after the unit.
I will implement this goal in week three because I see
it very suitable time to start formally assess students
understanding. Furthermore, applying it will help me
to know students abilities and levels of learning to
move step forward and plan further.

of the type of these assessments and how can I apply
formative assessments specifically during my lessons to
improve my teaching and students learning (Bakula,
2010).
