End-of-Unit Math Project Assessment

We have been working on solving and writing numerical expressions over the past
two weeks. We have learned about parentheses and order of operations. It is now
time to show me what you know! You will be creating a math concept poster or
presentation. (If you have other ideas to show me your knowledge, run them by me
first before you get started).
Your poster/presentation will need to include:

At least five important vocabulary words from our unit, along with their

meanings.
Explanation of what numerical expressions are.
At least three examples of numerical expressions. (Includes at least three

digits, two operations, and parentheses).

Your knowledge of what parentheses do to numerical expressions.
At least three word problems that can be converted into numerical

expressions. (e.g. the product of eight and two, minus seven is (8x2)-7=9).
At least two story problems that use numerical expressions to solve the
problems. (See class work and homework for examples for further
clarification).
Each expression must contain the answer and an explanation of how you
solved the expression. Posters and presentations will be shared in small
groups and then turned in. Posters may be completed on the computer or by
hand. A sample template of a concept poster is attached, but you may create
your own as well. The scoring rubric is also attached.
Let your creative juices flow!
