PRESS REEALSE ATU local 1385

Sunday November 13, 2016 Members voted overwhelming to authorize a strike(work stoppage)
In year 2015, 2016 raises were given to all employee accept for ATU members,
RTA board members approved a 2% raise for all employee, Mark Donaghy refused to offer the raise for 2015 as
back pay
In 2015 ATU traditional bus operators were required to work 238,000 hours of overtime, RTA leader will not pay
for increased overtime for 2015. A working conditions the union was complaining.
In 2016 the staff level have been increase and overtime is down to 50,000 hours as of August per Bob Steven RTA
labor relation expert.
During contract talks the ATU made recommendation on the insurance and what we feel would help both the
company and the all employee union or not union (RTA rejected plan)
Without being advised RTA was working behind the contract talks on an insurance for the employee that has been
presented. ATU employee with a family will be required to spend 4,472.00 for insurance premium and pay the
first 5000.00 of all medical expenses.
RTA has offered to front load the deductible plan by depositing a sum of 2,500.00 however Mark did not say the
increase on insurance is also increased to pay RTA back. And the RTA is asking for the union to with draw an
arbitration of 200,000 due to the employee and then given to the RTA to be used to pay the amount deposited
into the HAS account an amount that was to come from RTA. (members paying for the employer amount to be
deposited in to employees account)
Additionally the union earn benefit of a sick day per month was being closed out at a saving of hundreds of
thousands of dollars and the union received nothings.
Union agreed to a new absent policy to help the RTA
Employee making low wages with a family insurance plan just cannot afford paying over 10,000 a year before ant
financial help is provided through the insurance (high Deductible plan)
Yes the employee go to the restroom during the time the schedule say they need to be driving therefore our driver
are not on time. We want to be on time, but we should not be required to break the law to meet an unreasonable
schedule. 58 red lite tickets and that is just where camera were located. Speeding tickets 58 in a 25 limited.
We want the same raise approved from the rta board for all hour we worked, we need affordable insurance, (the
PPO) proposal we would accept with the increase but not the High deductible
We will sign a three year agreement with a 2% raise on all hours worked and now were told the back pay for 2016
will most likely be withdrawn.
Reasonable working condition our operators are the only employee who does not get a schedule break and a
schedule lunch like all other RTA employee and like other transit companies. A layover is not a break when you
have to keep driving because your behind.
We have not had a raise since 2014, no contract since 4-1-15,
Working condition issue were rejected and would not discuss.

Our goal is to be treated fair, stop the bulling of the employee, and let us be on time every time without breaking the law.
Reasonable schedule with reasonable schedules, safe equipment, and the best service to our clients. The contract is a
compromise between to groups and so far its been a take it or leave it by RTA.
Look at the proposal and the fact finders reports its clear
