1. Program Installation
Operating environments of Star Icon-100 Program.
1.1 Require of Hardware.
O/S : Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT, Windows 2000
RAM : 64MB or higher
CPU : Pentium II 450 or higher
Hard disk : program installation space(50MB), data storage space(500MB or higher, free space change by
the number of data outbreak at any time
1.2 Require of Software (option)
Microsoft Office 97 or 2000 : Access 97(recommendation), Access 2000
1.3 Installation
Insert Setup/Installation CD in the CD-ROM drive. Open CD-ROM Star Icon-100 setup folder in the
Windows Explorer. Execute Setup.exe

Designate directory/folder to store the program. When selecting a different location for program folder,
click Browse button. If you are installing the program in the default directory/folder, click Next >
button.
Select a folder in the Program Folder. Use the defaulted name. Click Next > button .

Setup is finished. If you restart your computer, select Yes, I want to restart my computer now and
didnt restart, select No, I will restart my computer later. Then click Finish button.

2. Configuration
To use this program, need to set some environments. Between program and Star Icon-100 system,
communication environment setting and system (reader) registration must set to communicate with between
system and program.
2.1 Run Program

Log-in procedure
Defaulted User ID is admin without password. Thus, press ENTER or click Login to start.
Click Controller Setup Wizard in menu, then the following screen executes. Step 1 is company
definition. After inputting defaulted Company Code, input Company Name. Click Next >> button to move
step 2.

Step 3 is Set Port. If Serial Port (Com1) is used, select COM1 and Serial Port (Com2) is used, select COM2.
Click Next>> button.

Step 4 is Set Speed. The defaulted communication speed in system (Star Icon-100) is 9600BPS. Select
9600BPS. Click Next>> button.
Step 5 is Select system address. Select Start Address and End Address in installed system (Star Icon-100)
reader. Click Next>> button.
For example, if five Star Icon100 systems are installed, reader address is set 01,02,03,04,05 or
00,01,02,03, 04 usually. Then you can select Start Address from 00 or 01 and End Address to 04 or 05.

Step 6 is Communication status Test of selected system (Star Icon-100) reader address from Start Address to
End Address. Click Test button, then will show following screen. If communication is correct, you will see
a message Communication OK or Communication Error.

Comm Port set communication port connected between Star Icon-100 system and computer. Defaulted
value is COM1.
Baud Rate set communication speed .between Star Icon-100 system and computer. Defaulted value is
9600bps.
When communication setup is completed, click OK button to save, then Close button to exit.

System Location selects location (floor in a building) of installed Star Icon-100 system.
Contact Type selects Door Contact type installed Door Lock. By the Contact type, checks the gate
status.

Click Delete button after selecting the reader you want to delete on the right Reader (Door) List.

Following Figure shows the menu and functions of Star Icon-100.
3.1 Main Window
When program executes, following figure will show. The main screen will show Event Status and Alarm
Status at once.

Controller
Gather menu of Star Icon-100 system control and functions related system.
(computer).

Holiday Definition: After inputting holiday date, transmit to Star Icon-100 system. Then apply to
a holiday.
Input/Output Definition : After setting the input/output point of contact, transmit to Star Icon100 system.
Reader Mode Definition : Change Reader Mode of Star Icon-100 system. In Star Icon-100
system, use RF Only or RF + Password. Also set use keypad enable or disable.
Antipassback Definition : Decide whether to use or not a Antipassback mode. This function is
optional when to set additional reader (Second reader). Also, can use software and use global
antipassback function.
Duress Mode Definition : In emergency, after user inputs registered 2-digit password in advance,
read card. Then, Duress mode is operated, so inform alarm status according to registered setting.
System Initialization : Initialize Star Icon-100 system. Initialization Option consists of Event
Clear, Card Clear, Time Schedule Clear, System Clear.
Reader Status : Certify basic information of the system (Star Icon-100). Can certify how to
register Data of day, time, Antipassback, Reader mode, communication speed, Eight Digit Input
Mode, time schedule, Holiday, etc.
Dial-Up Connection : To set a Setup step easily (after installing program first), beginners can use

Setup Wizard : To set a Setup step easily (after installing program first), beginners can use the
Setup Wizard.
Database
Card Type Definition : Register, manage Card Type. Select Card Type in user registration by type
of user, visitor, etc.
Access Group Definition : Register, manage access region and time by group. Set Access group
of Star Icon-100 reader.
Card Holder : Manager registration and deletion of registered user data and card, fingerprint data.
Login ID & Password Definition : Registers a new user or delete user, and changes password.
Also, allow functions by user optionally.
Database Backup/Restore : Search Event, Alarm database files by date, then backup or restore.
Option : Select serial chain or dial-up chain . And select whether to use sound by alarm event or
not. If so, select sound file.

Door Control & Status : Control the door. Can unlock or lock the doors Lock and confirm
Locks status by real time. If Contact is installed, can confirm opening and closing of door by real
time.
Report
Card Holder Report : Search or print data and list of registered users.
Event Report : Register or print event status by period, by time, by door, by individual attendance
status.

4.1 Controller

Set Communication
Set communication environments.

Parity Bit, Data Bit, Stop Bit use defaulted value.
When communication setup is completed, Click OK button to save, then Close button to

Date, Week, Day, Time is entered computers date, time automatically. If entered value is
incorrect, you can also make direct input by typing in each field.
Select a Star Icon-100 systems address to want to change data and time in Select(Check)
Reader(Door) Address. (Multi-selection is possible.)
To transmit data, click Transmit button.
If Success message is showed, this procedure is finished. Click Close button to exit.
Holiday Definition
Register and transmit a holiday. (Refer to the Timeshedule registration)

Holiday Code is used from 01 to 10 and one code can register 32 holidays the maximum.
Input a Holiday Name and Holiday Date.
Click Save button to save.
Select a Star Icon-100 systems address to register in Select(Check) the Reader(Door)
Address.(Multi-selection is possible.)
Click Transmit button to transmit.
If Success message is showed, this procedure is finished. Click Close button to exit.
When want to change a holiday, you select code to change in Holiday Code. Then change the
holiday. Click Save button to save. (Click Transmit button to transmit again after
modifying.)
Click Delete button after selecting Holiday Code to want to delete.

Timeschedule Definition
Register and transmit group by day.
Timeschedule can be set 5 time ranges on each day. When attendance is allowed always, Timeschedule
is set 00:00-24:00 from Sunday to Saturday including holiday.
Also, if you allow attendance as time range on specific day, input Timeschedule
by Schedule One,
Schedule Two, Schedule Three, Schedule Four, Schedule Five in time field.
For example, if you allow from 09:00 to 18:00 except from 12:01 to 13:00 on Sunday, input as
following step.

Input 09:00 and 12:00 in Schedule One field, 13:01 and 18:00 in Schedule Two field on Sunday.
TimeSchedule Code can be used from 01 to 10 and input attendance time by related code.
Input a TimeSchedule Name.
Input a time by day.
Select a Holiday Code to apply to a TimeSchedule Code which is inputting presently. If
Holiday is not applied, select None or select a suitable Holiday Code.
If select Holiday Code, appear Holiday Name and TimeSchedule which is applied holiday on
the right side as following figure

Input/Output Definition
Set Input/Output signal of Star Icon-100 system, transmit set values to the system. An Input/Output
point decides which Output Signal is activated when the Star Icon-100 system gets an Input Signal (for
example, Exit, Contact, Fire, Sensor, Tamper, etc). Also, Input/Output Signal can control Operating
time of Input Signal with TimeSchedule.

For example, when Input 1 is used Out 1 in Input point, selects operating second of Out 1
(defaulted value is 03 sec). Other Output points (Out 2, Out 3, Out 4, Out 5) select 00 sec.
Output point can be operated several devices simultaneously. Namely, if Out 1, Out 2 is
operated simultaneously when Input 1 is activated, Operating second of Out 1, Out 2 should
be selected other sec (except 00 sec).
Click Save button to save.
Select the address of Star Icon-100 in Select(Check) the Reader(Door) Address. (Multiselection is possible)
Click Transmit button to transmit.

If RF Mode is transmitted, a Star Icon-100 is operated Card Only Mode. Then, when reads a registered
card, allows attendance.
If RF + Password is transmitted, a Star Icon-100 is operated Card + Password Mode. Then, when
inputs card reading and Password, allows attendane.
Click Mode button to change

Keypad Mode sets whether to permit users keypad Input when use RFK101 Reader, .
Antipassback Definition
Antipassback is that controls a cards movement through the system by knowing the cards current
location and what areas he can move to/from the location. This transmits whether to use relevant
functions or not.
If Antipassback is used, Star Icon-100 system must add additional reader. And when entry information
is equal to exit information by relevant Star Icon-100. Namely, when a user uses an entry by using card,

Limit entrance through reader connected one system. In Icon100, one system establish two readers,
it is a match. When information of entrance and exit are equal, permits entrance.
* Global Antipassback
Limit entrance through reader connected several systems. It isnt itself function in Icon100. It is
established Global Antipassback to be possible as Software. To use Global Antipassback, Software
must be operated for 24 hours.
Memory Definition
User can set memory space being saved Card ID directly. Increase or decrease of Card ID storage
number is possible by 500 units. According to Card ID memory setting, event memory storage space is
set automatically.

Reader Status
Reader Status receives basic information of set system(Star Icon-100). Date, Identity reader
information, AntiPassBack, Reader Mode, Baud Rate, Eight Digit Input Mode, TimeSchedule, Holiday.

Company Definition
Manager Company lists.
Title(Position) Definition
Manager title(position) and list.
Selects Company.
Inputs title(position) code in Title Code field.
Inputs title(position) name in Title field.
Click Save button to save.
To modify or delete, selects title(position) to modify or delete in Title List.
To modify, modifies title(position) name, then click Save button to save modified data. To
delete, click Delete button.

Manager Department list.
Selects Company.
Inputs Department code in Department Code field.
Inputs Department name in Department field.
Click Save button to save.
To modify or delete, selects Department name in Department List.
To modify, modifies Department name, then click Save button to save modified data. To
delete, click Delete button

System Definition
Register information of Star Icon-100 system.
Usually to use one Star Icon-100 system, System Address is 00 or 01. To use several Star
Icon-100 systems simultaneously, System Address is particularly set each system.
System Name is the name of Star Icon-100 system.
System Location selects location (floor in a building) of installed Star Icon-100 system.
Contact Type selects Door Contact type installed Door Lock. By the Contact type, checks the
gate status.
Enter the name of First Reader, Second Reader.
Star Icon-100 is First Reader itself because a reader is included within Star Icon-100 system.
Click Delete button after selecting the reader you want to delete in right Reader (Door) List.

is not duplicate because it is a primary key.)

Reference: Find
Find is used when search registered user in a database.
If you know Employee Ref. or Card Number, input Employee Ref. or Card Number
directly in a user registration screen. Then enter Enter key, show registered data
automatically in a screen. But if not so, use Find Tab.
Click Find>> button after inputting searching conditions. If data is registered, show on
the right side. Select Data to search by mouse, indicate all information in the upper input
field.
If you dont know searching condition, click Whole List button, then indicate registered
users all list at a database on the right side

Set user authority functionally. To assign all authorities to specific user ID click All Permission
button, then all functions are selected. Click Save button to save.
Also to delete all authorities click Clear Permission button, then all functions are cleared. Click
Save button to save.
To clear each authority functionally, click All or Clear button below each functions list. Then can
select or clear all function in a relevant list. Also click specific function by using mouse, can set proper
authorities as user ID because of selection or deletion.

Option
Manager can indicate to decide whether to use Sound function by alarm status and Alarm status to play
sound files when appear alarm to select sound file.
* Alarm Sound
Select or cancel Sound by Alarm sound whether to use or not. In case of selecting sound, click Open
button. A dialogue box will appear, then select sound file.
If you want to listen to the sound file previously, click >> button.
Upon completion of setting, click OK button to save.
