A dirty filter will slow down air flow and make the system work harder to
provide cooling . Since there is a restricted airflow the heat removal
capacity of the evaporator coil also decreases . It can also lead to
premature compressor or fan failure .

Thermostat Setting
One can save as much as 10% a year on heating and cooling by simply
turning your thermostat back 7-10F for 8 hours a day from its normal
setting .Typically a setback of 1C will save about 1-2% .
This can be acknowledged from the fact that the insulation heat loss from
a building envelope is directly proportional to the difference in the outdoor
and the indoor temperature .
Q=UA T
Q= heat loss
UA = Product of the U value and A is the area
T = Difference in outside and inside temperature

AIR SEALING
Energy Protection Agency(EPA) estimates that users can save an average
of 15% on heating and cooling by air sealing their homes. Two major
causes of heat gained in buildings are:-
False Ceiling
False ceiling can help reduce cooling demand by reducing the heat gained
from roofs by providing a layer of air insulation. Also by decreasing the
room volume it significantly reduces cooling requirement .
